The High-End Economy Hotel Chain Launches Video Contest for College and University Students

This spring, Red Roof® will complete a national rollout of free Wi-Fi to all of the brand’s 350 locations; to promote this milestone Red Roof is calling on college and university students for videos submissions encouraging potential hotel guests to come and visit their hotels and check out the new free Wi-Fi.

Running now through May 31, 2010, participants have the chance to win a number of prizes including: $5,000 for Grand Prize; $1,000 for First Prize; and Second and Third Prize winners will receive free room night stays at a Red Roof of winner’s choice. 

“We know why Red Roof is a great place to stay while traveling for business or taking a vacation with friends and family, now we’re asking the public to tell us why they love our hotels,” explains Marina MacDonald, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Red Roof.  “This contest is the logical next step in connecting and actively engaging with our current and potential guests.”

Participation is easy!  Individuals or teams can enter, but teams must be no larger than four individuals.  If a team submits a winning video, the prize will be split equally among all members.  An individual or team can submit up to three videos, but will be eligible for only one prize.  All videos should be three minutes or less in length and no larger than 50MB in file size.

Entries will be judged on originality and creativity, presentation of Red Roof, messaging, memorability and competitive differentiation of the brand.  Humor is great and encouraged, but ultimately the winning video must show the hotel chain in a positive light and must inform and encourage potential customers to stay at one of their properties and experience the new free Wi-Fi service.
