Phoenix has terrific sports attractions. Enjoy the Cactus Leagues MLB Spring Training during March and early April; and once baseball season begins, cheer on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Arizona Cardinals have had some very successful recent seasons, and the Phoenix Suns provide NBA basketball excitement. The Phoenix Coyotes are the city’s NHL hockey team. Check out Arizona State’s exciting athletic schedules for great college sports as well. And of course, the Phoenix area is renowned for its golf courses.tucson-cactus

Due to its gorgeous natural location, Phoenix has a number of lovely outdoors recreational attractions. Camelback Mountain has numerous hiking trails. Papago Park offers both paved and dirt trails, and is located in Phoenix, next to the Zoo.  South Mountain Park, the largest municipal park in the world, is a popular hiking, biking and horseback trail area. The Desert Botanical Garden, located in Papago Park, gives visitors lessons in desert flora.

Phoenix has some great museums as well. The Hall of Flame Museum tells the story of firefighting and commemorates fallen firefighters. The Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum is a great attraction for those interested in geology and gems. The Heard Museum is a showcase of Native American art and culture, with musicians performing on most weekends. The Phoenix Art Museum is entertaining for any age group, with new exhibits arriving regularly. The Orpheum Theater is a historic site with a huge performance schedule.phoenix-city-hall

The Phoenix Zoo is 25 acres, with Africa savannas, tropical rainforests, and a desert Arizona environment. You’ll especially enjoy the Galapagos tortoises and the baboon colony. Enchanted Island is a huge amusement park that’s especially enjoyable for younger kids.

Phoenix has a number of excellent tours. Check out AZ Hummer Tours for tours of the Sonoran desert. Detours Phoenix Tours focuses on city tours, while Westwind Air Service flies the visitor over a variety of attractions.
