Greater San Antonio, Texas

Welcome to Greater San Antonio, Texas!san-antonio-skyline

Deep in the heart of Texas and the home of the Alamo, San Antonio is full of fun and attractions. Relax in your clean comfortable Red Roof San Antonio room and enjoy everything San Antonio has to offer.

Two of San Antonio’s biggest attractions are The Alamo and the San Antonio Riverwalk. The Alamo, the 18th century mission where Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and 188 others made their last stand against General Santa Ana, is a state symbol of independence. Riverwalk, lined with restaurants, great shopping, and galleries, is delightful anytime but is particularly enchanting at night.

San Antonio has plenty of other historic sites as well. Mission San Jose, san-antonio-alamofounded in 1720, is best known for its rose window and a mariachi mass on Sundays. San Antonio Missions National Historic Park stretches nine miles, with four important 18th century missions. The Spanish Governor’s Palace, built to protect the Alamo, takes visitors back to the 1700’s. La Villita, San Antonio’s first neighborhood, is now a thriving arts and crafts community, great for a relaxing walk.

San Antonio Museum of Art has a huge collection of Latin American art, as well as Egyptian, Asian and Greek works. San Antonio Children’s Museum is a great time for young kids. Marion Koogler McNary Art Museum is a Mediterranean style mansion that houses over 10,000 paintings, sculptures and prints.

For those loving the outdoors, visit the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and Conservatory, housing a wide variety of plants from Texas and around the world. The Japanese Tea Gardens are free gardens with beautiful floral paintings and fish ponds. Natural Bridge Caverns, in underground San Antonio, contains underground chambers and huge rock formations. Above ground, the Natural Bridge Mining Company features rocks, minerals, and rough cut gems.san-antonio-riverwalk
