James Trueman, a builder in the Columbus area, started Red Roof. Red Roof’s first inn opened in Columbus, Ohio. It was 1973 and room rates were just $8.50 a night.

Jim believed, like many of our guests, in simplicity and economy without giving up quality. He focused on the meaning of value.

Today, Red Roof has 345 inns in 36 states, employs over 6,000 people and serves millions of guests each year.
