ROBERT WALLACE PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT,
BRAND OPERATIONS AND FRANCHISING, RED ROOF INN®

COLUMBUS, OHIO – February 1, 2011 – Robert Wallace has been named executive vice president, brand operations and franchising, of the Red Roof Inn® chain of hotels. A seasoned hotel industry veteran, with 30 years of operational and franchise experience at Red Roof, Wallace formerly served as senior vice president, franchise.

During his tenure as SVP, franchise, Wallace opened 67 new franchise properties, accounting for 48 percent of the brand’s current franchise portfolio.

“Wallace is the ideal candidate to build upon Red Roof’s franchise business, while upgrading our operations system,” says Andrew Alexander, president, Red Roof. “With more than 30 years at Red Roof, Wallace has proven to be an expert in growing the brand.”

Wallace’s appointment aligns with the recent announcement of Andrew Alexander as president of Red Roof. Wallace will be Alexander’s second-in-command on the newly-appointed Red Roof executive team. In his new role, Wallace’s primary goal will be to synergize efforts of both corporate and franchise operations to advance the service, quality and consistency of all properties, and ensure guests receive a nice place to stay, at a nice price, across the brand’s portfolio of nearly 350 properties.

As Red Roof evolves into a best-in-class, franchise-centric operation in 2011, Wallace will be at the helm of communicating the message, that Red Roof is one brand, with one focus, and therefore able to offer personalized support and guidance to franchisees, making for an overall great customer experience.

“Ensuring we exceed expectations of our guests at both franchise and corporate locations, is vital to the success of the Red Roof brand moving forward,” continues Wallace. “My objective is to ensure that both our corporate and franchise teams are working seamlessly to build brand equity and loyalty among our guests.”

During his 30-year tenure at Red Roof, Wallace’s experience includes a strong foundation of operational positions prior to being named executive vice president from senior vice president, including general manager; regional director; district vice president; divisional vice president; and group vice president, respectively.

Wallace also brings an impressive depth and background of industry-related positions in Columbus to his new role. Post member of the Board of Director for Experience Columbus and Greater Columbus Lodging Council as well as The Ohio State University Hospitality Management Advisory Board. Wallace currently serves on the Greater Columbus Sports Commission Advisory Board.
