Booked while on the road, as I couldn't find a room in Memphis due to the music festival. I almost didn't check in when I pulled up to the property, because the neighborhood is so sketchy. The front desk clerk was very nice and assured me that we would be perfectly safe, and since it was near dark and it was only for 1 night, we stayed. He did ask me if I wanted to have "massage service" for an additional $10, which I thought was interesting since I was a female. The room was a lot nicer than I expected, and had been recently remodeled. However, the mattress was showing because the sheet didn't fit quite right, and I ended up sleeping fully clothed because it had visible dirt on it. There was some sort of dog fight right outside my room in the night, and it was noisy with lots of activity throughout the night. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Didn't feel safe at all. Absolutely skip the restaurant next door. It's terrible, had heartburn for hours after eating there.

Dumpy motel in a sketchy part of town

I wouldn't trust any of the positive reviews of the Red Roof Inn in Blytheville, Arkansas. When you read them closely, something doesn't add up. How could the same hotel have some guests saying it's "not safe" and that they felt scared, that their rooms stunk, etc., while other "guests" claim it's excellent? Could it be that some of the positive reviews might be biased, or perhaps even fake? It does seem odd. You know what else is odd? Check out the photos of the property. They only show the lobby and facade, lots of pictures of the same part of the hotel, just shot from different angles. The shots are framed so they don't actually show the buildings or the parking lot, or really any other part of the hotel -- because then you might see how sketchy this place actually is. And the photos of the rooms may look nice, but unfortunately photography cannot convey how BAD THEY SMELL. This hotel is cheap as dirt, and dirt is pretty much what you get, so I guess you get what you pay for. Well, in my case I didn't even get what I paid for, because I had to go to a different hotel after finding poop and/or blood stains on the (unwashed) sheets of my SECOND room (the first stunk unbearably of smoke). The punchline is that they refused to give me my money back. They probably make a fortune from refusing refunds for unhappy "guests." There are way better hotel options right off I-55. The money you think you're saving by driving the extra mile to the Red Roof Inn in Blytheville is SO not worth it. Caveat emptor.

We did not feel safe here!

My friend and I (both women) stopped here during a very long trip that was going to take 3 travel days. I never get scared but this place was the exception. The guy at the front desk was nice when we checked in but gave me a creepy feeling. The room had a very strong, strange odor that we couldn't identify (bug spray? Cover-up spray?). We drove around the town to see if there was a restaurant and were concerned that everything had barred doors and windows. We went back to the room and just decided to leave early in the morning. Around 1 am there was a lot of yelling outside our door and it was very scary. When we left the next morning the whole demeanor of the guy at the desk (who lived off the office) was different. He did not open the door for me to check out, his smile was gone and he made me use a little slot to return the key even though he was right there. He used his computer and totally ignored that I was standing there. I had to say "Hello? Hello??" To get him to acknowledge that I was still there. The coffee that was in the lobby was inaccessible since the lobby was locked and he would not open it so we just went to the nearby Loves which had an IHOP Express and great coffee. The review of Bob S can NOT be legit! Stay here at your own peril...

I'll start off by saying the guy at the front desk was really nice and the bed was comfortable. The room itself smelled like dogs and the floor was sticky. Our bathroom door didn't close all the way either. We were only there for one night and it was already really late so we didn't bother asking for a different room.
