Great value for the price

I came with 2 adults and 2 kids to this hotel to spend one week around New Year. Location is everything. We initially drove to Manhattan and we ended up paying 15$ in tunnel fees and 36$ in parking in Manhattan, plus taxis. The second day we caught the hourly bus and for 3,50$ per adult (kids under 11 don't pay), we had a direct ride to Time square within 20 minutes. The bus stop is around the corner and the last bus from Manhattan is at 11h40 pm. While the rooms were a bit old, they were always very clean. We could see daylight from the door though, but the heating system was good enough so we didn't feel cold. we had water damages in the bathroom due to a leak upstairs. We were changed room and offered some snacks twice. Staff was always very useful and responsive. All in all we had a great deal. We paid around 940$ for 7 nights, instead of 350$ per night in Manhattan. Free parking was most welcome! There is a wine store just in front of the hotel and an excellent Italian restaurant nearby.

Very clean rooms, great service & close to NYC

I had a last minute opportunity to take the family back to NYC for Christmas; since we previously had an good stay at this hotel for christmas in 2014 & 2105 I thought we would stay there again. And again the experience was top notch. When we walked in Danica cheerfully greeted us and confirmed our reservation. We asked if our room could face the water if possible since we had that great view the last time we stayed. Without hesitation she said, sure and even offered to upgrade us to a premium room at no additional charge, Wow that was really unexpected. Our room smelled great when we walked in, the white bed linen was really sharp and it was really clean. We quickly dropped our stuff and ran to catch the bus to NYC; within 25 minutes we were in Times Square heading to see the tree and the ice skaters. We took the bus back about 3 hours later and ate in an Italian restaurant across the street that was not there during our last visit. The next day we went into the city again, saw the empire state building, went to Bryant Park and ate at the Starlight Ballroom, where all the waiters sing on the tables ! That was really something to see. Later we returned back to the hotel, slept great again and we were up early and gone. Overall, a great, quick trip to the NYC area.

Unfortunate experience

My daughter an I arrived at Red Roof Inn ready for a 14 night stay holiday. We were greeted by a young, pleasant an very helpful receptionist who had met our early requests of a room with a view of hackensaw river an for my sister an my neices to have room next to us. We arrived in a room toasty warm, crisp clean sheets an a spotlessly clean room. Later that night we discovered our toilet was blocked, we went to reception an told of our issue we had the option of unblocking or moving room, given we had unpacked got accquainted with our room I was in no mood to move so we took the option to plung our toilet. Issue resolved. Second night I was woken to a man trying to enter my room around 7ish in the morning, I was so startled an freaked out that some stranger had access to my room I immediately called down to reception only to be told my room had been cancelled an was being asked questions like..."how long was I here for an how did I pay" I was so upset by the experience, the reception said she needed to speak with her manager an she would get her manager to call me. I waited 15mins no call arrived so at 815am Im walking down in the cold to deal with the matter. I arrive at reception now face to face with the lady I spoke to on the phone who explained that they had their auditor come through an checked their books an for some reason my 14 night stay was cancelled an refunded. I stress to reception I was concerned about the whole matter explaining my daughter an I have travelled thousands of miles to this accomodation for 14 nights paid by credit card I was not understanding why their auditor would cancel our booking. The reception called her manager out. The lady I spoke to was less empathetic a stern reply of there was an error, the man who came into the room was the maintenance man he was only working from what information he had, apologised for the inconvenience an credited me 1 night. I expressed my unstisfactory of the matter explaning my family an I are here for 14 nights, having travelled thousands of miles, my family's safety was priority. I must give my hats off to the cleaner - elizabeth, for the times you cleaned our room we were always thankful to come back to a clean an spotless room so Thank you!!! Although I understand recreational marijuana is soon to be passed or has passed in Newark New Jersey, a note to the maintenance man, it is most helpful if you turned up the atttidue of being more welcoming an try to breakout a smile an turned way down the smelling of weed on the job. A comment to the General Manager of Red Roof Inn, it is most confronting when customers who aren't use to being bombarded with the constant stench of weed coming out of red roof inn, seacaucus meadowlan rooms an elevators. Im not sure how you would police or try to minimise the use of it in across red roof inn, seacaucus meadowlands..bit like smoking really but my family an I found it most off-putting. Final comments to the young lady who first served my daughter an I, apologise I can't recall your name, thank you. An for the last lady who checked us out I tjink her name was Ashanyti (sorry if I mispelt) Thank you for ensuring my room was refunded,l. An for that Red Roof Inn, Seacacus Meadowlands scores a two.

Not a place for long stays

I booked to stay based on the good reviews, but I can say after spending 2 weeks here with my family it is not a hotel for long holidays/vacation. Booked the double deluxe room and had several issues with this place: PLUMBING - toilet kept getting blocked, we had to change rooms as there was no one on site to fix. Second room, same issue toilet would leak and not flush, had to wait until morning to get maintenance to fix. The shower in the second room blocked, water would pool around feet. BEDDING - beds are firm and uncomfortable, pillows thin and gave me a headache. Not sure why when this was supposed to be a deluxe room. ROOM 250 - has a terrible damp stench, more prominent in morning and late at night. DOOR KEY - Cards kept failing, was such a nuisance to get all the way to your room only to find it not working and have to walk all the way back down to reception in -10 degree celcius weather to fix it. SAFETY - Had a stranger knock on our door in the middle of the night asking to stay in our room if he paid. Rang and alerted reception who then called the police. My sister and her family also stayed at this hotel and she had one morning where maintenance tried entering her Room at 7am, we had the latch on the door luckily so he couldn't get in, but was very scary be woken to someone trying to get in the room at that time. When we went down to reception to complain and ask for an explanation, we were told the night team had accidentally checked my sister out and refunded her money and that maintenance were doing security checks to make sure the room was cleared. We couldn't understand why they would be checking at that time of the morning, it should be done after checkout which is 11am. We asked to have the manager call us but never got a call. I only spoke with the manager Bill once about the toilet issue he wasn't very empathetic almost like it was an inconvenience to him than it was to us. Had we not paid in advance, I would have left and found alternate accommodation for my family. On the positive side we did have a good cleaner - Elizabeth. And most of the reception ladies are friendly and polite.

Great Stay in Secaucus

This past week we traveled north from Florida to see a Broadway show and take in the sights of New York City. After driving for about 16 hours, we were pleased with the convenience and location of the RED ROOF PLUS+ SECAUCUS-MEADOWLANDS hotel. Located on the Hackensack River and within minutes of the bright lights and excitement of Times Square, Broadway, and all of New York City’s finest attractions, this hotel was just what we needed. It was easy to find, even at night, and had plenty of free parking. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful when we checked in. The process was quick, and we were on our way to the room in no time. The room had clean, modern decor and was quite spacious. I will say it was literally freezing outside (windchills were in the single digits) so were disappointed to walk into a cold room. It took a while for the heat to really make a difference so we stayed bundled up for the night. The front desk, however, was very accommodating and offered us some extra blankets. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and we all slept well. There were plenty of convenient outlets for all of our chargers and technology. I hate when hotels have outlets behind the bed. Not the case at RED ROOF PLUS+ SECAUCUS-MEADOWLANDS. The microwave even had outlets on the front. That is a major positive in my opinion. In the morning we got a cup of free coffee in the lobby (there is a Dunkin directly across the street if you desire a “fancier” coffee drink) and were on our way into New York City. RED ROOF PLUS+ SECAUCUS-MEADOWLANDS is only 1 mile from the Meadowlands Sports Complex: MetLife Stadium, which is home to the New York Giants and New York Jets, and the Meadowlands Racetrack. Other nearby attractions include New York Red Bulls soccer, Meadowlands Exposition Center, Medieval Times, Great Falls of Paterson, and Liberty State Park. It was a quick drive into the Times Square area from this location as well. This hotel is just right if you are looking for economical accommodations but still want a big city experience without the prices of New York City. RED ROOF PLUS+ SECAUCUS-MEADOWLANDS will be on our recommendation list for anyone going to the Big Apple.
