Better Choices

Maybe it's the age of the place, but it could use some sprucing up. There are no luggage carts or elevators. The road noise is quite bad, as well as the sound insulation from room to room. On the plus side , it's close to the "Magnolia Shops" the city is famous for.

Outside doors which made me nervous. No one there when I tried to check in. Took 10 minutes to get someone to the desk. Carpet filthy. Spread had cigarette burns. Pulled down covers to find stains and body hair on the sheets. Would have changed hotels if Waco wasn’t sold out of everything under 200 a night. Front desk changed sheets for us.

My husband had business meetings nearby so we spent two nights here. Because I can work from anywhere as long as I have an internet connection I tagged along. The hotel exterior is well cared for, clean, and orderly. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is apparently being updated. We passed two rooms that construction is actively underway on as we walk to our upstairs room. According to the front desk attendant the tubs have been reglazed in all of the rooms. The construction is being handled well. Possible trip hazards (old carpet removed from the rooms, etc) are neatly stacked outside the rooms while the crew works. Our room was a couple of doors down and I didn’t notice any noise from these rooms. The workers were also quiet. I saw them pass my window but otherwise never noticed them. I set up my laptop, a monitor, a keyboard, and my iPad at the desk to work during the day and had plenty of room at the desk. The desk chair was adjustable and comfortable. If we come back to Waco we’ll likely book a room here. Note: there is road noise from the highway because the hotel is on the highway offramp. It wasn’t bad and didn’t keep us awake or interfere with my work.

Highly recommend!

I hate hotels having to go through a lobby! We travel with a pet and Red Roof Inn is always great. The rooms here were large, clean and most important... a comfortable bed!! Staff was nice and right off the interstate! Would defiantly go back!

Worst Hotel Stay
February 04, 2018

I booked a nonsmoking room and was given a smoking room. They blamed it on the carrier I booked it with. However, I found it strange that they brought up that the carrier booked me in a nonsmoking room and I would have to contact them to change the room but didn't have any other rooms available. How did they know the moment I walked up the the counter that I originally wanted a nonsmoking room? The room smelled terrible. The floor was sticky and had to have them clean it again. Instead of showing up with a mop and bucket. They used a spray bottle and a dust broom. The wall to the bathroom had a hole that had been patched with spackle and never repainted to match the wall. Spackle around the door frame. The ceiling above the tub was peeling off. The microwave had stuff stuck to the door and the outside looked like it had not been cleaned in sometime. The freezer had what appeared to be left over frozen ice cream in it. I will never stay at that hotel again.
