pleasant no fuss or frills place to stay

My adult daughter and I stayed here twice in May 2018, and we saw four bedrooms and the rooms were consistently clean and pleasant. The fact we came back again a week later shows we were satisfied. Overall the hotel was quiet, being away from the airport flight line. We only had an issue early one morning when some people were very loud in the corridors, otherwise it was fine. The TV worked well, we were able to plug a laptop in with our own HDMI cable and stream netflix over the free wifi. The staff were helpful when I needed something printing, and very patient when the door access card stopped working for the second and third time (daughter accidentally erased it with magnetic holder on phone). About the only downside is you have to drive up to ten minutes for food depending on what you want.

Perfect service and good facilities for the price

We couldn’t ask for anything more. Any time we had a request, they were more than accommodating. They printed us some tickets, froze our ice packs for our trip to the Grand Canyon, made recommendations when asked and were generally lovely people. An older gentleman and Atalaya (that’s her name as far as I can remember, apologies if that’s wrong!) were especially helpful. The beds are comfortable enough and there is a choice of soft or firm pillows. There is a pool and always a fresh pot of coffee on. Thanks for a great stay.

Ratio : price / quality is ok !

Lack of Integrity is Something Not Easily Fixed

After traveling from upstate NY to relocate to Phoenix, AZ we had by now developed a pretty good drill for securing lodging for the night. We were traveling by car, two adults and two dogs, pulling a small Uhaul trailer. Since our new home wasn't to be available to move into for a few days, we opted for the Red Roof + in Tempe, AZ. Our drill consisted of checking availability and prices online, making sure to filter for "pet friendly." Then, calling the hotel in question, and asking a series of questions: "Do you accept pets?" "Are there weight restrictions?" "Breed restrictions, or limit on numbers of pets?" "We have two golden retrievers. Is that ok?" "What are the pet fees, if any?" "We're pulling a small trailer. Is there adequate parking?" "Is there anything available on the first floor?" If anything doesn't work out for our travel needs with a particular place, we move on to the next on the list. Sometimes, after speaking with a desk clerk, we'll either book it with them over the phone, or return online to complete the process. We ask these questions each and every time, across the country, from Mom and Pop places to 5-star luxury hotels, depending on where we end up for the night. So it was for Red Roof + in Tempe, AZ. We went through the drill on the drive in from Santa Fe, talked to desk clerk "Eric," and booked with him over the phone. A little while later, we checked in after a 300+ mile day. I walked our two dogs inside after a bathroom break, and Eric even smiled and waved as I passed. The next day, after running errands we returned to the hotel around 5, again with our dogs. A manager stated that there was a "one dog limit" on pets, and we would have to leave the next day. Eric was present. I told the manager that this was the person we booked with, and went through our screening questions with. Eric denied we ever mentioned having two pets. I was incredulous. I reminded him that he actually smiled and waived at me with both of our dogs at check in. He denied ever seeing our two dogs. We were booked for four nights. Since we would have to find a new place the next day anyway, we opted to check out after this one day. My request to the manager to speak with him in private fell on deaf ears. Standing behind the counter with Eric, his response was, "This is as close to private as you're going to get." Minor mistakes with billing, room assignments, or other details are easy to fix. Lying to your boss about a customer, then inferring the customer is lying to cover yourself, is inexcusable and beyond the pale. A boss covering for this is equally egregious. Integrity is not easily recovered once lost. For this reason we will forever avoid the Red Roof brand. I urge others to do so as well.

Great stay if you stay away from the handicapped accessible rooms.

Our first night stay we couldn’t get a double room because we had booked through Priceline and you can’t pick the number of beds. So they gave us a king size bed room and this room was great. Everything was clean and fresh and the bathroom was obviously recently renovated. Then the next day they were nice enough to switch us to a room with double beds In a handicap accessible room. This bathroom was badly in need of an renovation. It was old and not really user-friendly if you were in a wheelchair since there was very little space to put anything on shelves and if you were actually in the shower area there was no where to put your supplies except on the floor if you were using the handicap chair. The first day I took a shower I did not know how the curtains worked in a bathroom like that so I flooded the bathroom floor. I grabbed some towels to wipe it up and the towels were black and filthy by the time I was done. There was mold in the shower and it just had an overall old, dated and unclean appearance to it. Though it wasn’t a problem for us, if you didn’t have a car, it is not located in a convenient location because there is nothing within walking distance around the area. That’s not the hotels fault, it’s just an observation. So if you’re staying in a room that is not handicap assessable, by our experience in the king size bedroom they gave us, it was great. Just stay away from the handicap accessible rooms.
