The St. Clair hotel in downtown Chicago is absolutely perfect. It is one block off the magnificent mile it is for recently updated very chic it is a true diamond in the rough. This little boutique hotel is walking distance from anything you could imagine in Chicago. It was winter, of course, when we visited we had a wonderful time were able to Uber or walk to any destination of our choice . The front desk staff greeted us with a smile and were incredibly friendly and informative about how to see Chicago. I discovered this beautiful little hotel via a Groupon and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. We will definitely stay again and are planning to do so in May .

Great Hotel and a Great Value!!

This hotel is located right next to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. It is clean, comfortable, a great value and the staff is very courteous and helpful. There are several eateries nearby like Fridays, Corner Bakery and Starbucks and our overall experience with the Hotel and the surrounding area was very positive.

Very nice stay. Room was small, but comfortable. Free bottles of water in the room! All the standard amenities. Bed & pillows were clean, soft, warm & comfortable. Just a block from Michigan Avenue. So many things to do all around this hotel and so many more interesting things just a short bus ride away.

Horrific Nightmare

I have never in my entire life experienced anything like this and am kind of speechless and confused as to why this happened. Let me start by saying that in the past three weeks i stayed at the St. Clair hotel a total of 11 times and the past three years have stayed at various Red Roof locations all over a total of around 200 plus times. And have always been completely satisfied and prefer your hotels over any i have stayed in in the past. And may I add, never not even once had any issue or problem, that is until now. The last time i stayed at the St. Clair hotel was on the 8th-10th of February 2019. And being your biggest fan , i completely adored your newest addition to the Red Collection. The night began with the rudest check in i have ever had and than led to me being in a room #602 which was noticably much colder than the warm hallways. I called the front desk and about two hours later i was stepping out of the shower when the door opens without a knock and enters a maintenance man with tools and we both are startled as i am naked. He shuts the door and apologizes, he than waits until i get dressed and than i let him know he may come in again. He starts taking apart the heater which i found odd, and starts to ask me if im having a good time in chicago and if i attended the car show... it was very akward. He is than joined by another worker and are both in my room for a total of 3 hours. With me there the most strange thing ever. Than he finally says that he cannot fix the heater and i have to change rooms. i pack up my stuff and move it all to the hallway. Where i wait over 35 minutes for anyone to instruct me what to do. An front desk gentleman finally steps off the elevator and rudely hands me a card and gets back on the elevator not saying anything. i find my room number on the card and take all of my things to the new room #603. i call my friend and let him kniw i changed rooms finally and he joins me in the room (a downgrade from the room i had) abd we retire as it was so extremely late . Next morning my guest abd i snap a few pictures of each other and we both depart. I check out of the room and xheck my bags and let them know that i will be vack later that night to check bavk into another room. The young kady politely thsnks me and I depart. I make a reservation and send it through right than and go sbout my day ... I return at 6pm to check in snd noticed i got an email from the hotel canceling my reservation. I found it odd but just rebooked another room through expedia and arrived where i was than informed that i was banned from the hotel and could not be checked in. The rude young man than informed me that i was"caught red handed" and there was cigarette ashes found on the window sill in the room and i could not stay there anymore. i was baffled and mortified as a group of other guests were witnessing this. I askef to speak with a manager and the rudest nan came out by the name of Ryan. I questioned the alligations because me nor my guest have ever smoked a day in our lives. The manager eoukdnt even listen and tokd me i was banned from the entire chain if red roof inns. I askef than if they hsd proof, dud they take pictures? and he responded witj "yes we did but we do not have to show you. " He instructed the front desk guy to give me my bags and tokd ne to leave. It was 4 degrees outside with a windchill of -20 degrees in chicago that day and a Saturday. I sat there for four hours after the front desk staff were making comments to me anout living in the lobby when i finaly got snother hotel bookef and calked a cab. completely mortified. I spoke to my friend today and he was astonished and we are both saddend that this could actually happened.he showed me the pictures we snapped thst morning still very confused when the picuters are of us posing in front of the window and what apoears to be a completely nl clean window sill just a few moments before checking out. So niw im curious as to why thusbis happening? Was my money not good enough abd ehy is the staff so unruley and able to allow this to happen? Im writing you first before posting as a review becayse i have had such a good relationship with this company and respect to give you an opportunity to address this before i post it publicly. And just to let you know i WAS charged fir both nights as well.

Wow, surprisingly nice simple little hotel

Really an outstanding value. Great front desk service as well ... I don't mean good, I mean absolutely great. I had a change in plans and had pre-paid for the room. They gave me no grief and happily allowed me to check out a day early with no penalty. The rooms where clean and decently sized, the bed was comfortable and the location is outstanding. I'll definitely stay again.

Pet Policy: One family pet not to exceed 40 pounds is permitted at no additional charge. Pet must be declared during registration and kept on a leash when outside guest room. Pets must never be left unattended in the guestroom and when you walk your pet please clean up after your pet.

**There is no parking on-site at this location. Our current valet parking rate is 58.00 per vehicle, per night of stay this includes in and out privileges. The total for all vehicles for the entire stay is collected at check-in. Reservations for the valet parking service are not required. Custom vans, dually trucks, and other oversize vehicles may not be able to be parked. Trailers and motorcycles cannot be parked.

The hotel requires a credit card or debit card authorization for the full cost of the entire reserved stay, including parking if applicable, and an incidental deposit of 75.00 at the time of check-in. Cash is accepted at check-out. This hotel does not accept pre-paid or 3rd party debit cards. There is an ATM in the hotel for these transactions.
