Where do I start??? First of all, had to pay $130 for a terrible experience! This hotel said "newly renovated", How long has that sign been up, because I couldn't see any renovations! Toilet felt like it was going to fall over, looked like it was installed in 1960's! Shower was old, clean, but old! There was a new sink.....woopee! Microwave had a big dent in it, wall were chipping paint. Plug-ins were black, like they were burnt up! Weird people hanging out behind the desk at the check-in. No wonder this was the only hotel with rooms available!! NASTY!! Next time, we will drive on down the road, it would be worth it!!

The rooms are nothing like the online pictures the only thing that was close to it was the bathroom sink. When I first walked into the room I made Italy pulled down the bed sheets to my surprise just explode in the bed hair all over the Sheets it was apparent that the room had not been claimed, X to be moved and we were given a key go into another room and to my surprise garbage all over the floor the room wasn't even cleaned. The bed wasn't even made up. I looked at my husband and said are you kidding me. I now call it the Bates Inn. The worst experience I have ever had in a hotel /motel, It will be my last. Pictures of thousand words only wish I could retrieve them from my broken phone.

We stopped on our way from Florida to our Michigan home. I had a 15% discount coupon from a previous Red Roof stay, and when I made my online reservation I made it at the going rate. At the end of the reservation I wrote in the comment section that I had a discount certificate. When we arrived I presented the certificate, and the woman at the desk said that the rate already reflected the certificate. I replied that the rate was established as the rack rate before the certificate was mentioned. After a call to her manager she said that was all they would do. I said I would contact "corporate", and she made another call. Suddenly I had my discount! On the comments I requested an end room, ground floor. We were assigned a room in the middle of the back, the furthest place possible from any parking since the back of the Inn does not have a parking area. My husband is mildly handicapped, and that was too hard for him, so he went in to talk with the clerk. She then gave us the handicapped room (king bed, although we had requested 2 beds). When we entered the room it absolutely reeked of smoke, although it's a non-smoking Inn. By now we were exhausted from the drive so I went to the desk to ask for Febreze. The woman clerk had been replaced by a young man. When I said that someone had smoked a lot in the room and I would like Febreze, he rather loudly said he would give me my money back and I could leave. We had already moved our things in, so I said we didn't wish to leave and wanted the Febreze. He stood up and began yelling at me that he "just didn't need this" and I would just complain. That guaranteed a complaint. Anyway, I got a room freshener and returned to the room. When we went to the bathroom we were appalled. The toilet and toilet seat weren't fully clean. But the tub!! It was filthy with some kind of residue all over the black drain area, to say nothing of the very short curly hair in the residue. The desk chair was completely broken and the A/C unit was dirty and missing fins. We were simply too tired to fight, so we went to the local casino for the evening, returning for about 4 hours' sleep with no shower. The next morning a 3rd person was at check-out, and when I said that I didn't want the safe on my bill he couldn't understand anything I said. We just left. I have been in contact with Red Roof national, and they have been very responsive. I just don't want anyone else to go through this.

My husband booked 3 rooms at this hotel a couple months ago for ourselves and friends to attend a tournament. When we got there it was just not even close to what was expected. Our friends got there first and upon entry they pulled all the sheets off the bed. There was a little plastic spoon under the sheets along with the mattress cover having hair all over it. They requested another room and got a key. When he opened the room the bed was not made and there was garbage in the room. Our room had additional issues. Our mattress cover too had hair all over it and the tub faucet leaked. There were no towel racks in the bathroom and no coffeemaker...for our room. But our friends had one.. We ended up having to wipe down EVERYTHING because it did not appear or smell clean. It was not worth half what we paid/night. Our other friends' room was OK but they had apples left in their room. ??? When our friends requested new sheets the person that brought them appeared under the influence and wasn't concerned that the room was not cleaned properly. Lastly...no one had an iron/ironing board so our friends purchased one. In hindsight we should have just gone elsewhere.

I have stayed in this hotel several times before with adequate results but the service and the systems have gone downhill in a big way and I will never return under this management. Quickly: Desk chair broken Heat had one actual setting - full on. Impossible to regulate Towels do not dry - they exfoliate! No hairdryer Lousy washed out TV signal Broken shower head Hot water enough for one person to shower, not two Bed was not firm - it was hard! Management indifferent to customer needs and staff inadequately trained or motivated to assist to provide any solutions to problems.
