Came in late after a storm knocked the power out in much of High Point. Room was updated (on a budget) with laminate wood floors, new furniture, and stone countertops. However, air condition did not work. Would only turn on for a few minutes when the door opened/closed, then would turn off, and you couldn’t turn it back on. This resulted in the room being humid/muggy. Couldn’t even turn on the fan. Good WiFi and tv.

Charged for cancelled reservation. Rude and unintelligible front desk clerk

A room was booked on a Friday eve for a Sat to Sun stay. Realized the room would noot be needed. Cancelled at 12:30 day of when the window to cancel was 6:00 pm that evening. When called the front desk clerk was rude and hard to understand. Almost drunk sounding. But he said he would cancel the room. My card was still charged. Called to get the charge refunded and talked to the same clerk who was so hard to understand i am sure he was drunk or high. Very rude. Said no one called. Avoid this place at all costs. They are thieves. I am elevating this to corporate for sure.

Creepy and Broken- Do Not Stay

I stayed here with my coworkers for two weeks during a project here is a list of some issues we had: -First coworker is given a room where the door doesnt lock and can be opened just by pushing on it -Second coworker is given the same non-locking room after first rejected it -Boss is given a room that already has other people in it -There was no light bulbs in half the fixtures in my room -An extremely strong smell was coming from my sink that made me almost vomit -The phones in the rooms do not connect to the front desk, they just ring until you give up -Two different weekends my room filled up with the smell of smoke to the point I could barely breathe, all staff did was give me a spray that helps with lingering smoke smells -The parking lot is on a steep slope and there are no lines so just have fun with that -A cop is parked outside almost 24/7 -There is construction going on next door that starts at 2am -I think half my noise complaints were the staff going in and out of rooms slamming doors, I have no idea why they were going into so many rooms -The are two maintenance men, one is nice the other is super creepy and was asking very personal questions of my female coworker while making it clear he was single If you decide to stay there good luck finding it, there is no sign from the highway

Dirty and Old

Several things wrong with this stay. 1. My card was charged more the first night than I was supposed to be charged according to my reservation. 2. Every common area in this hotel that I saw was dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned in quite some time. 3. Many things in my room were breaking, missing, or on the verge of falling apart. 4. The smell of marijuana in the hallway outside my room indicated a decided lack of a proper ventilation system throughout the property. ONE positive comment: when I told the night clerk, Jamie, that I had been overcharged, he did make a concerted attempt to convert the charge back to the correct one although it didn't work. He was very polite.

Bed Bugs - Do NOT stay here

We broke down on the highway late at night and had to pull off at this exit. This hotel was our only choice until a tow truck could come get our truck the next morning. The desk clerk was asleep in the closet and barely woke up to book a room. He could hardly form complete sentences. There were only two doubles available. One bed had a dead bed bug in it. The other had a blood stain on the sheet. The bathroom linens had black hairs stuck in the fibers. I reached out to Choice Hotels and sent them the pictures and their "resolution" was to give me 2000 points towards a future stay (it's 6000 to stay for free). I will NEVER stay at Choice again.
