It’s hard to get 5 stars from me but this place has. Great location in a fabulous authentic part of non tourist Tokyo. Modern example of the budget hotel and the epitome of ergonomic design to cram everything into a small space. I’ll be back to spend more time here.

Modern and Convenient

Red Roof Inn Haneda is located about 5 minutes walk to/ fro Kamata JR station and surrounded by many shops. . This hotel is new with modern design. Although the room is kinda small, but the hotel did take into consideration for two people to handle each of their 24inches luggage. We have the space to open both of our luggage on the room floor, and still walk about to the bathroom. We are most impress with the room utilities and cabinets for it has been made to conveniently handles our stuffs in tight spaces. The shower head has multiple levels adjustment, which i am very impressed. And there are plenty of power plugs in the room to be used, most impressive there are plugs on the bed frame even! LOVE it! The hotel has only one washing machine and one dryer to be used by the entire hotel, and this made it difficult for us to wash our clothes, which we had to do it at 2 in the morning. I wish the hotel would equip more units of it. . The rate is pretty reasonable and we got offer from agoda for about JPY ¥17,339 for 3D2N stay. The hotel offers free water, coffee and tea, available at the lobby, accessible 24hrs. What surprises me is that the hotel serves light breakfast, consists of bread, buns, muffin, juices and a bucket of banana fruits. Am very thankful for this!

Best price/quality relation I found

This hotel is located in a very calm and quiet zone in Kamata, just a few blocks from the train station, surrounded by convenience stores and small markets, Don Quijote 24/7, a Viê de France cafe and Taito arcades, with a lot of Izakaya bar and sushi/ramen restaurant with amazing prices. The building is modern and well kept, with all the commodities you can ask: elevator, security, laundry, smoking spot, etc. Rooms are very tidy and modern, with a lot of space considering the trend in the city, with comfy beds, bath robes, slippers, toothbrush, hair brush, soap and even razors for free! Hi-tech bathroom with heated seat and automatic "bidet" function, very clean and well kept. The staff is very nice and kind, even they don't speak good english, they do their best to take care of your things, providing information, baggage scale, maps, breathing masks, etc. The price is one of the best according the quality of the hotel, and considering your away from the noisy streets downtown and you are sleeping in a bed, not in tomb/capsule style, with private bathroom and a simple but sufficient breakfast. Totally recommended, if you wanna save money, have REAL rest and not dance to the rhythm of a bunch of backpackers snoring next to you. PS: pay attention to the crows cawing at morning. It is glorious.

okay for short stay

We stayed a week, it did the job, it’s a decent location and easy to access the train but for major tourist attractions still take a few trains to get there. We booked three people and tried to book two beds but were unable too so we took a blow up mattress as they couldn’t cater for the third in the room so we had no space, even without that mattress there isn’t a lot of space. It is very noisy so hard to sleep and the buffet breakfast is just mini toast and pastry with a couple of steam pork buns. At night the route you take from the train you pass a lot of gentleman’s type clubs with the ladies out the front all over the streets trying to get people in so bit awkward for families.

Disappointing budget hotel - there must be better!

The Red Roof Inn Kamata-Hamda is a budget hotel, but not at budget prices - overall it was disappointing for the price, with small rooms (a plus was that the aircon worked) and the buffet-style breakfast was a disappointing choice of a few croissants and slices of various breads. It was a 5-6 minute walk from the Kamata station, in a backstreet close to the fire station it seemed. There were a couple of streets (Happy Road and Sunrise) which had shops, restaurants etc so it was convenient for facilities/food and transport links. Hard to recommend overall though, I'm sure there are better hotels in the area for the price.
