TripAdvisor Ratings

Staff with strong vengeful anger.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL - We did not stay here and three other sets of people who were checking in did not either. Below is a letter that I wrote to the Hotel owner Pravin Patel: Mr. Patel: thank you for the kind email but I think you have other serious issues that need addressing. You have an employee who I consider dangerous interacting with the public. He had outbursts of wrath, bitterness, and malice when yelling at me. The look in his eyes is one that I will never forget. He then slammed the door and paced in the back room yelling that I was a "liar" when I spoke to corporate. He also yelled other loud verbalizations. I also believe he may have an issue with women. He refused to acknowledge that Sandra Legg, who gave me permission to bring 2 small dogs in to your establishment, existed. He repeatedly said "she did not work at the hotel". Even when I showed him her business card, which was on the counter, he was exhibiting strong vengeful anger and aggressive tendencies, yelling for me to get out of here. I read about your hotel on line and this is where I found out about your pet policy. Your hotel received alarming reviews which is why I called and spoke to Sandra Legg . Sandra indicated that she thought the reviews were unfounded. Sandra is the person who gave me permission to bring my two small pets to your hotel. I asked her twice if she had the authority to make that decision. Sandra assured me that she did. I also asked her to add a note to my portfolio about the TWO pets. Two elderly people walked in behind me and asked what was wrong with this man. It did not take them long to realize that this man was experiencing anger control issues. They decided to leave quickly. While I was in the parking lot talking to Red Roof corporate two other customers came and departed. When we arrived there was one car in the parking lot and we left there was one car in the parking lot. I am business man who stays in hotels at least 100 nights per year. I have been a Red Roof customer for 20 plus years. I have never been treated this disrespectful ever! I believe this man could have an extraverted personality and could be dangerous to others when he is angry. I believe so strongly that your employee has uncontrollable rage that I am going to do the following: 1.) Speak to the highest level of corporate management that I can if I do not hear back from them by the end of today. 2.) Leave this message on the Red Roof reviews. 3.) Post this message on Trip Advisor. 4.) I am going to try and find a number for the local authorities to report this outburst of wrath, bitterness, and malice. I really believe this man is dangerous. After being told by Red Roof corporate that this a individually own hotel and there is nothing they could do it may be time to find a new hotel chain.

This place should not receive even 1 star. Thought the place had been renovated but it is still the same. Same dirty linens, unsafe conditions, bugs, mold, etc...the list is endless. Reviewers are putting in more work writing up all the problems than the city health inspectors, who don't even visit the site per my conversation with them, or owners in cleaning this place up...don't even bother washing linen between guest. Same owner (Pravin Patel) as the Days Inn pulling the same "place is under renovation or has been renovated" to deceive customers. See the owner's responses to endless negative reviews under both names (Days Inn now Red Roof) over several years. The owners response is like an explanation of condition to both new and future customers and lenders. According to the responses from the same unpleasant owner, the place has been majorly renovated at least 3 times as well as having continuous renovations over the last decade or so?, but the only visible change is the hole's name (Days Inn to Red Roof), everything else is the same...you don't need to pocket renovation money to buy detergent and clean down surfaces and wash linen between guests, vacuum floors, hire someone for pest control, etc....and would highly doubt duck taping fixtures and holes in wall constitute renovations.

Good stay

Went to Harrisonburg for the weekend; Room was clean, very close to everywhere you would want to go. Hotel staff was very polite. Wasn’t in the room for a majority of the trip, but as a place to lay your head at night it worked very well.

Reservation for 2 dogs not honored

My husband and I made a reservation for us and our two dogs at the Red Roof Inn in Harrisonburg, VA. When we arrived we were told the manager no longer accepts 2 dogs so we were not allowed to stay. We had included our phone number in the reservation but no one called to let us know the change. We had driven 700 miles that day and were very tired and just wanted to get to bed. We asked to speak to the manager but they were not available. Unacceptable! And not fair to the young man working the front desk. We asked for a refund and moved to Motel 6 which is cheaper and had no issue with our 2 dogs.

The room had a smokey smell even though the hotel is a smoke-free hotel. The ac was leaking. We killed 2 cockroaches in our room during our stay. The beds were rickity and uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny and you couldn't be in it to close the door. The shower had no water pressure. The room itself was unclean and the bathroom towels felt like they were used a billion times. It was an unpleasant stay. The fridge sucked and wasn't even on when we walked in. The outlet literally fell out of the wall when we unplugged the lamp. The women never said anything about breakfast or even told us the breakfast was cancelled due to COVID-19. Every time we came in or left, everyone would be watching us. The location was the only thing that was nice about this hotel. Parking was a pain because the parking lot was one-way. The hotel was cheap and it definitely showed with everything we dealt with.
