Great friendly service.

I stopped at this hotel which I found along my route and was very pleased with the service. Upon checking out I was greeted by Zee who was very pleasant and friendly. He made sure that me and the kids ate before we hit the road. He also has a pleasant attitude and was very welcoming to the other customers. This was quality service and I will always stop here when traveling south.

Needs some help...

My family and I stay at a lot of Red Roof Inns. We really love the Red Roof properties and use them for both business and pleasure. They are always a great place to stay. We even have our favorite Red Roofs that we have stayed at multiple times. This Red Roof will be a one time stay. They appear to be remodeling but it needs a lot more help than remodeling. The neighborhood is okay, the parking lot was a little dark. The property next door looks a little creepy. During the day the neighborhood didn't look as bad as it did at night. It really think the property needs some nice parking lot lights. It appears that they are remodeling in phases. All the occupants of this property on this night were all located in the back corner. This made parking a bit tight. The room was clean and appeared to be recently remodeled. However, attention to detail was not part of the remodel. We had three rooms and all had been remodeled. All the rooms had loose sink fixtures (as if they didn't fit), toilet paper holders were broken and/or missing, and one room had a gaping hole in the ceiling where I think an exhaust fan was supposed to go. As anyone knows when you remodel the details make or break the project. This project is broken. There is a pool - however, it is empty and doesn't have any water in it (other than a little bit of rainwater). Not sure what the status of the pool is. The patio area was surrounded by mud and the rickety gate was locked with a padlock, but that was just for show all you had to do was pull a pin out and enter the pool area. This is a HUGE safety concern. That pin could fall out and someone could really get hurt. Now let's talk about the staff. Well, more specifically the manager. I really would like to name him but I am not going to throw him under the bus completely but you know who you are. Ironically he was the one who asked us to write a review on TripAdvisor... Oh my, all I can say is wow... - Our 17-year-old daughter had forgotten her razor and wanted to shave her legs. She went to the front desk and asked for a razor. She was given one from the manager who told her that is was to be used for shaving and not self-harm. Why the heck would you even say that??? - He was just plain rude to a woman in front of us in line who was trying to check in. She as trying to pay for her room with a business credit card. She had all the proper credentials and authorization to use the card but he wouldn't take it as payment because it didn't have HER name on it just the business name. - Me and some others had gathered out near the parking lot and were talking making the plans for the next day, etc. We were not being loud at all he WALKED buy and told us to "quiet down I got a complaint". If you got a complaint, we apologize and will move on - but talk to us like adults - don't be a d***-head about it. This guy needs some remedial management training. If he is running the place it is no wonder it is in the shape that it is in. He treats his employees terribly. We witnessed a couple of times of him scolding his employees in front of customers. That is just unacceptable. He was extremely rude with guests as well. He really needs some help with his communication skills, management skills and needs to learn the difference between customer service and customer experience. A lot of the shortcomings of the property could have been overlooked had the experience been more pleasant. The property boasts breakfast - we decided to pass - it was a bit sketchy. There are many breakfast options around the area. So all in all - This property does have potential. It is a perfect place to stay for the night on your way to the coast. It was only a little over an hour for us to get to N. Myrtle from this property. However, with its current status, it will be a long time if ever before we go back.

Nice hotel, don’t be fooled by the dated look on the outside. The inside is nice, the receptionist was so sweet! The price is great. Right off of 95 so super easy to get back on the move. Definitely would stay again if needed.

Not a good place to stay

We were travelling home from Florida and all the local hotels were full. This was the only hotel that had any rooms left. Now we know why!! First indication was that you could only speak through a vent in a glass window to check on a room. To make a long story short - we were given a room at the very back of the hotel that was a smoking room. We did not ask or were not asked what type of room we wanted. Weren't even given a key - someone from the office came and opened the door and we requested a key which was delivered later. Room was not nice at all although the sheets and the bed seemed to be clean. Had two beds in the room and one of them didn't even have the pillows in pace just thrown on the centre of the bed. Bathroom was terrible and had not been cleaned. Tub had hair in it and dirt. There was a fridge in it and we opened it and it wasn't working but someone had placed a bag of ice in the freezer and it had melted all over the fridge. We played around with it til we go t it working. No remote for the tv. Breakfast was available, however we certainly didn't partake although the lobby area was a little nicer and cleaner. We complained and were given a discount on our room and a coupon for a discount at another Red Roof hotel int he future but needless to say we were quite turned off this brand. The desk clerk said that there had been a lot of damage to the hotel the previous fall and a lot of flooding during a hurricane and they were trying to redo the rooms that were damaged with a small staff and the cleaning people were helping but that does not excuse the condition of the room. My husband said he would have rather slept in the car. Of note - there were several other hotels off the previous exit on I 95 and they were actually quite scary with the people hanging around and the condition of the buildings. Will probably make sure we do not have a stop in this state on our next trip.
