Lodging for my mothers funeral
March 23, 2019

My first impression was terrible, the hotel clerk barely looked up or smiled at me when I was trying to book a block of rooms. The rooms smell old. There are no tissues, and the guests have to walk down a full flight of stairs (no elevator) to get toilet paper and bath towels that were not properly stocked in the room. The electric outlets are unsafe and the bathtub does not meet code (giant step to get into it). When I returned to the room at 830 pm after my mothers wake and service, I called the front desk to let them know that two guests had upgraded their rooms to King size and did not mention my name for the room block. The morning I checked out, the owner charged me for 2 rooms that I did not use because that is the rule! She said if I called by 4:00 (the middle of my Moms wake) she could have taken them off my credit card. The owner knew i was there because my Mom had passed away. I tried to reason with her, but she would not have it. I left, came back in the door to tell her I would write a bad review and that it could have been avoided if she had a heart. She replied that I did not have a brain! I told her "f.. you.. and she replied "f... you b..tch". How awful, what a horrible person. I used to stay there because it is right around the corner from my family. It was never very nice, just convenient. I hope the public reads this and never stays here.

Okay - especially for the price

We only stayed for one night. Everything was clean but the property seemed a bit shabby. We loved the location. The restaurant next door (a New York style deli) was great. It was nothing special, but I would stay again.

They wanted to charge me extra (10 dollars a night) for a microwave and fridge in my room!!! AFTER THE FACT that (I requested in advance). I’ve never had an issue in any hotel that I’ve visited with requesting a microwave and a fridge ever, its ridiculous it’s not going to cost a multimillion dollar company an arm and a leg for a simple small fridge and a microwave in a room!!!! The hotel isn’t going to close down over a simple request (in advance)(someone somewhere opened and read my request and failed to communicate with me and tell me it wouldn’t be possible) I have proof witch I posted along with the following photos. Had they simply contacted me shortly after reading my request, I could of canceled my reservation with no hassle and I could of booked a room somewhere else. It doesn’t matter what kind of room a guest booked if they are paying for the room (standard) (deluxe) (suite) IT DOES NOT MATTER especially!! If they are staying for several days they should be able to get what they ask for. The hot water wasn’t working properly!!! The heat wasn’t working properly!! and there was mold on the ceiling in the room and the bathroom ceiling is peeling. I tried to speak to the girl at the desk about my concerns she didn’t have a tone but she was rude in the sense that she kept talking over me!! She kept finishing my sentences without an apology of any kind. She also had an “ oh well, not my problem” “what you get is what you get” type of domineer. I wasn’t rude I didn’t have an attitude with anyone but I was frustrated I just came in from a long day at work and all I wanted was a decent room with the things I requested. They also didn’t want to change my room at first then offered to change it with a whole nother different room then what I paid for but STILL refuse to complete my request!!! The staff is inconciderate of their guest and their needs and they lack in courtesy of assuring a comfortable and sheltered stay for their guests I requested in advanced a thorough clean room because of my allergies ( proof also in the photos) the room wasn’t clean and didn’t feel clean the toilet had left over crap in it. The room also smelled like mold!!! The next morning I spoke to the (MANAGER) in regards to changing my room once I started explaining the incident from the night before her tone changed (She Wouldn’t let me finish my sentences because she was too busy telling me how much she’s paid for these bookings) from my understanding on how she was talking about how much she’s paid shows that these people only Have an ear for concerns as long as money is involved!!! Every time I spoke my part she raised her voice this lady was very unprofessional and extremely rude. she didn’t want to hear any of what I had to say!!! (This kind of attitude coming from a MANAGER ) an older lady an (ADULT) is absolutely uncalled for!!! She then told me the only way they could work with me is if I check out I mentioned I wasn’t able to do that because all my money went to my stay in the hotel I mentioned that I had no where else to go and it wasn’t that simple for me to just book a room somewhere else. I again asked for my room to simply be changed she then said she’s NOT making that happen because there are no other rooms available I mentioned that was all she had to say from the very beginning of our conversation instead of her rude and unprofessional response witch was completely unnecessary especially coming from a manager. I also mentioned I will be making an attempt to speak to a higher superior. She continued again to raise her voice as I walked back to my room. A couple of hours later there’s a knock on the door of my room, two employees were at the door a tall man and a woman they mentioned that the manager requested for me to be checked out and that I had to take my things out of the room I told them that she had no right to do that and I surly won’t be checking out because I didn’t mention anything about checking out. The gentleman said he understood and left.. once again the manager sent the two employees back to my room and said she wanted me out and that I had to grab my things and go. I mentioned that what she was doing was now harassing me for no apparent reason, I didn’t disrespect anyone I didn’t Threaten anyone I didn’t hurt anyone or cause a ruckus of any kind!!! So as far as I’m concerned She had no right to take it there and I have every right to file her for harassment, the gentleman mentioned he understood that what his manager was doing was wrong but that he insisted and that I speak with her due to the matter that the incident was between her and I he also mentioned that she spoke to Expedia and they had made arrangements for me to transfer to another hotel. Right then and there I was highly in disbelief in how ridiculously puerile this lady is. I went down to the check in desk and immediately called Expedia they mentioned that they didn’t have a transfer available so right then and there. I put Expedia on speaker so that the manager can hear the representative say they didn’t have a transfer available I said I won’t be checking out and she can’t force me to check out because I did nothing wrong so that until there was an available hotel I won’t be going anywhere. (She raised her voice once again and told me I was as leaving) She then demanded (not asked) demanded one of the employees to lock me out of my room. The employee did go to my room but did nothing to lock me out. I was able to get back in the room and removed my things. I AM TELLING YOU GUYS I CAN NOT MAKE ANY OF THIS UP!!! ((MY EXPERIENCE AT THE RED ROOF INN WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE) from the moment I checked in to the moment I was forced out!!! I don’t understand how people can be so disrespectful so cold after knowing the fact that I have nowhere else to go I’m forced to leave a hotel that I paid for because they didn’t like that I wasn’t pleased with how filthy the room felt and looked and also because they didn’t want to go through with a simple request!!! I’m not a rude person But I also will not stand for how I was treated!! As far as I’m concerned I’m the guest I paid with the money I work hard for and I expect to get what I asked for plain and simple!!!! I highly don’t recommend this hotel to anyone what’s so ever. from reading most of these reviews I’m not the only one who feels this way It seems like there has been an on going issue with this hotel and from and from my understanding it Hasn’t been addressed because obviously from my statement it keeps happening!!! so to me who ever runs this hotel honestly really doesn’t seem to care too much how his or her business looks to the world that’s my opinion.

Clean, courteous and kind
January 30, 2019

The room was clean, the people at the front desk were very courteous and kind. Excellent stay, especially for the price. Love that we can bring our dog with us to RedRoof, with no extra charge, and get a clean doggy room without and sign of past dogs being there. We respect this fact and are careful with our dog being in the room. Would go back without question. The owners really try to run a nice hotel for their guests. Reiner's Deli next door for a nice quick bite to eat.

Good for the price
January 09, 2019

Best price we could find on a pet-friendly hotel anywhere in the Hartford/Vernon, CT, area. No extra charge for a dog, and the hotel was clean and friendly, not just to our dog but to us people as well. Some partially renovated areas on the walls and ceilings were a bit unsightly in the room, so hopefully they fix those soon. Staff was pleasant, especially the older woman at the front desk on a Wednesday morning. Coffee in the lobby wasn't very good in taste and only lukewarm, but you can take the very short walk across the back parking lot directly to Rein's Restaurant for a delightful breakfast with great coffee, not to mention an awesome menu for lunch or dinner, too. Rein's didn't open until around 7 a.m. on a Wednesday, but after that, it was heavenly. Perfect NY-style bagels, pastrami, corned beef, bakery - WOW. There's also a Dunkin Donuts across the street. There's no breakfast available at the Red Roof. The hotel has two floors, but I didn't see an elevator, so perhaps the handicapped rooms are all on the first floor. You'd have to ask if that's a concern. The area seemed very safe outside - unlike some of the hotels directly in the city of Hartford. Easy access on and off of Rt. 84, too.
