On Christmas night I was traveling from TX to VA. A snowstorm hit and I needed to retire for the night. I hopped on Priceline and grabbed the nearest 3 star place. When I arrived, none of the lights were on. That was a little concerning, for sure. When I get inside, there's a line and it appears that the power is out. When I get the front, the man behind the desk let's me know he can't check me in because of the power outage. I have a receipt, I have a phone with internet capability, I can even call Priceline for him to confirm my payment. But they won't check me in. There was another group that *were* checked in because they didn't use Priceline. I don't get it. I paid for a room. Use a hotspot. Check people in. It's 22 degrees outside. So I decide to try and wait it out and sleep in my backseat, hoping to get a room at some point. Welp, never happened. Woke up shivering in my backseat and decided to drive a few more mile north. I have zero experience driving in the snow, but there were fewer cars at 1:00 am. This really was a terrible experience.
