Reservation Cancelled Without Notice

I wage caution to any person considering making a reservation with Red Roof Inn San Antonio Airport as they may not honor it. I wish I could comment on the condition of the motel and the quality of the room, but I did not have the opportunity to stay there in spite of making a reservation more than two months in advance on Hotels.com. Apparently, Red Roof cancels reservations at 6pm if they are not secured by a credit card, and they do not notify the guest or the booking agency. My reservation was made on Hotels.com did have a credit card attached, but Red Roof claims they received only my name from Hotels.com and not my credit card or contact information. Red Roof did not notify me or Hotels.com that the reservation was canceled. My boyfriend and I arrived by plane at midnight and took a cab to Red Roof arriving in their lobby about 12:30pm to find two young guys sitting in the lobby on the sofas as I walked up to the clerk who was on speaker phone talking to someone (from Expedia?) about how those boys’ reservation wasn’t valid because the hotel was sold out. The clerk named Aldo asserted indifferently that it wasn’t his fault or responsibility to do anything about it. The woman on the phone said that it was in the hotel’s contract that the hotel was supposed to find another place for the guests to stay. Aldo repeated like a broken record that it wasn’t his job and he wasn’t going to help. The two guys looked distraught sitting on the sofa. Aldo hung up the phone and the two guys left shortly after that. I looked at my boyfriend and said that I hope that doesn’t happen to us. I had a funny feeling that it would. And it did. I gave the clerk my credit card and license. He asked if the reservation was in a different name and I said that it wasn’t. He asked if I had a confirmation number and I pulled out my paperwork and gave it to him. Then he said the reservation was canceled at 6pm because a credit card number wasn’t on file. He showed us the same apathy he showed the other two guys. I called Hotels.com and they were apologetic, very understanding and helpful. They booked me another motel room across town. They couldn’t help with the cab fare, or the lack of sleep and the late hour, but they did issue a credit for my troubles. Whereas Red Roof couldn’t care less, at least Hotels.com took care of their customers and were very easy to work with to resolve the situation.

Needed a room quickly while waiting for new apartment. Room seemed dated and worn. Crumbs left behind on furniture, bathroom walls had stains. Bedding was so smelly I slept in my clothes. Location is close to airport. Won’t stay here again.

This no frills motel has all the basics with friendly staff. Everything was clean. Passageway carpet could do with a steam clean or replacement, but unless you plan to sleep on it, that is not a big issue. Close to the airport but otherwise middle of no where and food ordered in. Shower was a bit disappointing but you get what you pay for. A bit tired but a good nights sleep with no dramas. Will stay again

This location is super awesome. Staff is fantastic. One employee Yvonne has always gone out of her way to provide me a great rate. Excellent service. I highly suggest this location. Location here is pet friendly.

I was only looking to book the room for one night, as I had some changes in my travel plans. Booked a room the night before, no issues. The front desk staff was very nice and courteous- they let me check in early. Rooms are fairly easy to access. Hotel is old, and it shows. My room wasn't too bad. There was an interesting smell- it wasn't a bad smell, just an interesting one. Beds were made, floors were clean, bathroom was stocked. Wifi was strong. Beware that there is no fridge. The biggest upgrade the hotel needs to invest in is the showers. Either the showerheads are horrendous or the water pressure is terrible- either way, taking a shower while your body is 4 inches away from the wall is a little bit difficult and annoying. But other than that, it was a great experience, with great value.
