Only a short stay, but was sufficient for the price

I was only looking to book the room for one night, as I had some changes in my travel plans. Booked a room the night before, no issues. The front desk staff was very nice and courteous- they let me check in early. Rooms are fairly easy to access. Hotel is old, and it shows. My room wasn't too bad. There was an interesting smell- it wasn't a bad smell, just an interesting one. Beds were made, floors were clean, bathroom was stocked. Wifi was strong. Beware that there is no fridge. The biggest upgrade the hotel needs to invest in is the showers. Either the showerheads are horrendous or the water pressure is terrible- either way, taking a shower while your body is 4 inches away from the wall is a little bit difficult and annoying. But other than that, it was a great experience, with great value.

If you are looking for somewhere that the staff still knows old fashioned customer service, then this is your motel...

My recent stay was nothing short of spectacular. I go to San Antonio often and this specific Redroof Inn has been, is now, and will continue to be my lodging of choice. Yes, I have read some of the negative reviews regarding some stains on the carpet. As someone who has stayed at this motel many times over the years, I can say NOTHING but good things. From the moment that I enter the lobby to check in, I feel like I am not just a guest, but a member of the Redroof family. On this visit, which was actually as a result of Hurricane Harvey in my area, I had the pleasure of being checked it by Yvonne. Talk about friendly, courteous, professional service !!!!!!!!! When I walked in and gave my name, Yvonne, with a bright cheerful smile, addressed me by name saying, "yes we were expecting you" and then began the painless process of checking me in. Once I was checked in and went to the assigned room, I did observe some stains on the carpet. As I went back to the lobby for ice, I happened to mention this to Yvonne in a casual manner. Much to my surprise, Yvonne quickly told me that she apologized and that the staff was working on that type of issue at this location with earnest. She then moved me to another room, even though I had not ask for one. (To be frank, I was more interested in getting a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed in a nice comfortable environment rather than walking around the room all night looking down at a couple of water stained areas on the carpet) I could tell that she genuinely and personally wanted my stay to be a pleasant experience. Should the management see this review, Yvonne has the customer service skills of a seasoned site manager, and I hope that is in her future. On another note, Linda, I think she is the General Manager (if she is not then she should be) I know has been there for years and years. In her case, she has the one of those personalities that is rare. It can be a cloudy day, raining, but after you talk to her, it's like a ray of sunshine has filled the room. If you stay at this motel make it a point to say hello to her. Maybe it is time for her next promotion too. Her qualities are obviously being passed to the employees. Why do I write the above? No, I am not being paid to do so. I am just a customer who has stayed here many times and likes to compliment great service and simply to give the readers of this the feeling that when you stay at the San Antonio Airport RedRoof Inn, you can be assured that you will be met with a highly trained, understanding, and professional staff who obviously believes in that often forgotten understanding of 'treat others as they would like to be treated'. So, on your next visit, your home away from home should be this motel.

Rooms were decent. Front desk was horrible. Almost got charged twice, had to get my credit card company on the phone to try and prove to the front desk lady that it was charged twice. She played dumb. Wouldn't get management, then somehow "figured it out". Have stayed in better for cheaper.

Attending a conference & on a business trip

About a 10-15 minute ride from downtown with minimal traffic every day of the week. The rooms were carpeted, not hardwood (as shown in the pictures.) The carpet smelled musty and would have been a problem for my children who have asthma, but for me it worked out fine. The coffee in the lobby was always fresh, but guests are limited to only non-dairy creamer or half-n-half. Front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. I stayed in a new King Bed Suite and there was plenty of room and a desk area to use for work. The bathroom was tiny, but I had hot water for showers and they always replenished my shampoo and soap each day (even if I did not use it all). The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows they offer are down pillows which were not my favorite, but somewhat comfortable nonetheless. The linens and towels always felt fresh and the air conditioner worked well keeping the room cool. The hotel itself is near a major road, but not within walking distance to many businesses or stores. If you have a small family or are on a budget, this hotel can work for you. But if you are using a ride-share app or taxi every day, you may as well just consider staying downtown because the rates there may be similar to what you pay between your lodging and any travel fair downtown and back (about $10-12 ride depending on the day, near $20 at night using a ride-share app.) If you have a small family and have a car (rental or otherwise), consider staying here because you can drive to the Zoo and the Quarry Market, which are both on the way to downtown San Antonio, and are within 5-10 minutes of the hotel. Also, while it is close to the airport, it was quiet in the evenings and the sound of airplanes departing or arriving were non-existent. Do not take a taxi to the hotel from the airport because it is over $11 for a 5 minute ride. There are no shuttles to or from the hotel, so use a ride sharing app and save $5-$7 easy.
