Girl behind the desk came out and threatened to beat me up

I have stayed here many times. This particular trip I booked a 2 night stay through expedia. I drove 6.5 hours to get here. When I attempted to check in I asked for a room on the upper floor. The clerk stated that I had a smoking room and she could not change my room because I booked through expedia. I said that I didn't want a smoking room. She said I could only have a smoking room because I booked a smoking room through expedia and the manager does not allow anyone to change the room if it is booked through expedia. I said I didn't want a smoking room. I stated that I had stayed there in the past and the manager had changed my room due to noise on an upper floor. I asked for a refund. She could not give me one becasue I booked through expedia. She went on to talk about booking through expedia. I said stop, I don't want to hear about expedia. All I want is a room. If you can't give me my money back I will take the smoking room. I put my drivers license on the counter. I fumbled around in my purse and on my phone then noticed that it was taking awhile. I looked at the clerk and she was just sitting there. I asked her if she was checking me in. She replied, No she wasn't checking me because she couldn't change the room. I said just give me a room. She said no because I was rude R-U-D-E. I asked "you aren't going to give me the room that I paid for, or my money back?' She said, no because I was you are R_U_D_E . I said she was a b _ _ _ _ _. I asked to speak to the manager. She called him and told him I was R-U-D-E and that she wouldn't give me a room because she couldn't change from a smoking room. I interjected that I will take the smoking room, I just want the room - it is already paid for and she couldn't refund my $ so I will take any room. She handed me the phone and the manager started talking about expedia. I asked him to please not talk about expedia. I paid for a room and just want a room - I'll take the smoking room. I asked him to tell the girl behind the counter to give me the room that I paid for. I just wanted a room. Meantime she was yelling in the background that she is not a girl, she is a 49 year old woman. I had to step into the entrance area but could still not hear the manager. She then said something like she wanted to come out from behind the counter and hit me or something to that effect. I said, what? you are going to beat me up? (I am 61 years old) She said yes, and started for the door, took her sandals off, and came out from the area where the computer is. She stood there and I said "you are going to beat me up?" I started for the door because my daughter was there. She said that's right and you better run.. My daughter came in and tried to calm me down, I said I just wanted the room that I paid for. The clerk went on the tell my daughter about booking through expedia. A couple came in and was standing behind me, she said to them, you can step up to the desk, I am not waiting on her. I turned to them and said she is going to give me the room I paid for. My daughter and I left the hotel. I called expedia and they issued a refund and apologized for the treatment. In hindsight I wish I had called the police or taken out my cell phone and recorded this. By the way - I am not making this up.. isn't this incredulous? I have lodged a complaint with Red Roof Inn.

I have never had a really bad experience at a Red Roof Inn. Some are a bit better than others, but all have been acceptable. This one, however, is FIRST CLASS for a budget hotel! The front desk person was very courteous and friendly, though the hotel was sold out (I had a reservation) and she was a bit busy. She still took time to make me feel welcome, and even held the door for me as I wheeled my luggage in. The room was spacious (I always reserve the king business room), well-appointed, and everything worked well. I would add a floor lamp near the chair for those of us who like to read at night, but that is all I can think of that I would have changed. Way to go RED!

Terrible Hotel

We stayed here just for one night as just needed a place to sleep. We went there knowing it didnt have a pool, fitness center or anything else and were okay with that. We arrived and checked into our first room. They had a room air ionizer running trying to clean out the smell of musty wet room. It was not working and we immediately requested a new room. The new room seemed okay. We woke up the next morning to a wet floor from the air conditioner. It is not the first time this has happened as the floor boards are starting to warp. There as also (at best) dust in the vents and (at worst) mold. You be the judge from my picture. We asked for a discount and got into a long bidding war with the manager. After much debate, we finally requested a full refund due to this treatment to us and lack of concern for our health. The front desk person was attentive to our needs but was not able to help us out without a manager's approval. The only hot item on the breakfast was waffles and everything else was old and stale. I would not stay there again, ever.

Away for the weekend

Located on route 13, this Red Roof is very clean, affordable rates, next to a 7-11. Neighborhood nearby didn’t look so good, and there’s a liquor store across the hotel parking lot, but we felt ok staying near the hotel property. Pet friendly, no fees charged which is great- just let them know at check-in and you sign a form. Free WiFi and continental breakfast.

Nice Place

The suites were very nice and spacious. The TV's were large and modern. The bathroom is tiny but fine for one or two night stay. I personally like when the sink is outside the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and tentative. There is a lot of food places nearby. The breakfast is very limited but there is a waffle maker, cereal and toast. One thing that I did not personally like that you had to agree to housekeeping and that I particularly did not care for a two night stay I don't like having people in my room and will tidy it up myself because I like having my personal things protected. I was over to look this because the staff was so nice and the room was very spacious.
