Worst stay ever

Wanted a pet-friendly place close to my destination and found a Red Roof Inn and booked a standard King room. First Impressions: We arrived at 3pm, and couldn’t tell where the lobby was - it is tiny and hidden around the corner of the building, but the workers all seemed nice. The room we booked they couldn’t find the keys to, so the front desk lady assigned us a different room, but we had to wait for the room to get finished up being cleaned. Got to our room, which was decent for the price. The T.V. Remote doesn’t work at all. Took our dog outside, and there’s cigarette butts and trash littered everywhere. Noticed two vehicles with smashed in windows, so I asked the front desk lady if this is a sketchy/high crime area. Her reply was that is was probably the guests fault, there wasn’t any breaks in that she was aware of - which seemed off-putting (who would smash their own windows?) Worst stay ever: at midnight we woke up to screaming and banging, and our bulldogge going crazy, and we had to eventually put on her shock collar to keep her from making noise. She was terrified and wouldn’t calm down. We weren’t sure what was going on, but this lasted until 3AM. Again, at 5:30am the screaming, banging, car door slams, etc., started again for a bit. I was tempted to call the cops, and kept trying to call front desk. Finally front desk guy answers and said he just came from the fight and he helped de-escalate the situation and everyone involved was leaving. The best thing about this place is the workers. I know it’s not their fault (or the company’s) for what happened in the night, but this is the worst place we’ve ever stay at so far.

Staff worked hard to get us the right accommodation

The rooms in this hotel have been refurbished. We like the hard surface floors for cleanliness. Everything worked in the room we eventually stayed in which, unfortunately, was the third room we looked at. Although the rooms are supposed to be nonsmoking, the first two we went to reeked of recent cigarette smoke. The gentleman in the office, I believe his name was Orentho, went above and beyond to personally inspect a room or rooms to find one without the intense cigarette smoke. He worked very hard to make our stay a healthy and comfortable one.

Great location

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn with our dog on a recent trek south. No dog fees — definitely a plus for us. However, we were unable to get a room that was handicap accessible (spouse has mobility issues) and the first floor room we were given felt cramped and hard to negotiate. The toilet was low and there wasn’t much room between the bed and the wall. The mattress was super soft and squishy...probably could be changed. We will probably give this Red Roof another try just because the location is so good for those of us traveling south on 39.

Downhill

This place has gone downhill. Guests need to wear masks but front desk staff will not. No coffee maker in room and none in the lobby. No lampshade on lights. Toilet roll started off nearly empty. Grounds were filled with debris. Front desk staff surely.

Staff were top notch.

This is a basic, inexpensive, clean motel with comfortable beds, easy WIFI, and the best reading lights I've ever had in a hotel or motel! It also had among the best front desk workers I've had the pleasure to meet. Melva and Jerry made me feel very welcome and truly wanted to provide whatever assistance I needed to have a comfortable stay. For example, when I told Melva that the air-conditioning wasn't working in my unit and that I would, therefore, like to be moved to a different room for my second night, she nearly begged to let her move me immediately so I would have a comfortable night. I assured her I was fine, and that I would just wait until the next day. So, the next day I moved. No problem. Melva genuinely wanted me to have a good stay. And when I checked out, I got similar caring treatment from Jerry. I explained that I was in town to tend to my hospitalized mother and that I didn't know whether I'd need a third night or not. Jerry assured me that he'd be on duty all afternoon, so I should just call him and he'd help me work it out. He really wanted to help me get the service I needed. These two workers made me feel liked a valued person, not just a valued customer.
