Double charged me
review-img-alt
October 09, 2017

Do not stay at this hotel, unless you want a long headache trying to deal with them double charging your card. I booked a room here through hotels.com to stay one night, and upon arrival, they took my card (which I assumed was, as always, for incidentals.) The clerk with whom I checked out charged my card for the same night. When I got home and was reconciling these charges, I realized this error, and contacted the hotel. They were mildly apologetic (although I feel that this is a situation that warrants a much more generous reaction) and assured me they would refund my card. I have yet to see this refund post, so I contacted them again. They state that their system shows a refund, but my card statements and customer service team assure me no such transaction exists, on my card. I am currently on hold with the fraud department of my card company to have this charge formally disputed. The hotel clerks who I have spoken with are attempting to email/fax me the information in their system regarding this refund, but I have yet to receive either, which makes me wonder if they have some connectivity issues which may be some of the root of this problem. In total, I will have spent 1-2 hours of my own time trying to get this sorted out. The hotel itself was decent; all we did was sleep there. No breakfast was served other than some pretty bitter coffee. It is clearly a budget hotel, in terms of accommodations and customer service response. Had I known I'd ultimately be paying twice as much, I would have stayed at one of the other, much nicer, hotels in Dickinson. If you have stayed here, and booked through a third-party site, I highly recommend double-checking your charges to be certain the same problem did not occur with your stay.

Because of RRI's pet policy, we tend to stay with this brand more often than others. The Dickinson property is more like a long term stay property, where they clean your room twice a week (unless you request otherwise by 10 am) - each floor has an assigned day. Because of the spaciousness and cleanliness of the superior king suite, this hotel is a great value. You have a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, microwave and sink. A Walmart is very close by, so you can always bring in breakfast (hotel does not provide) or other meals. Hotel provides gas grills outside as well.

ADA Rooms. Kitchenettes. WiFi. Elevator.

What a pleasant surprise the Red Roof Inn was! It has no outside entries as most if the hotels we have stayed in the last couple weeks. The is an elevator to all 3 floors. On the main level, outside, is a very nice covered BBQ and sitting area. There is a laundry room, fitness room, business lounge, guest lounge on the main floor. They have an assortment of ADA rooms. Some with showers. Some with tubs. So be sure to request a shower or bathtub at check-in. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with a full size smaller fridge, two burner top stove, microwave, sink and cupboards. A person could easily stay here longer term quite comfortably. There is a small two chair dinette table. A nice size flat screen TV with HBO. They do offer complimentary WiFi. On the night table is a 3 electrical outlet and 2 USB charging unit. An alarm clock. Room phone. An enclosed closet with shelves and an iron and ironing board. There is AC, if needed. As well as a heavy curtains to keep the light out. The bathroom has a nice size mirror, hairdryer, hooks on the door to hang your robe. There is a lot of room in the bathroom. The towels are thick and soft. There is overhead lighting as well as a lamp at the bed side. The linens on the bed are very clean. I just found the bed to be too firm for my liking. The young man at the front desk, Travis, was very helpful. Especially to our older lady friend (with disabilities) who was traveling with us. He also provided us with some info on where we could order some food at that time of night. There is ample parking outside. We stayed for less than $60 for one night. We used the TripAdvisor app to find the best hotel and rates. We have discovered in our 12 state journey so far, that many hotels do offer a Military discount. The Red Roof Inn gets a triple A+, Platinum Star rating from me!

Great Bang for the Buck

Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Clean. Kitchenettes in rooms. Around $50 a night. Great value if you're looking for a place to sleep for a night or for an extended stay. No breakfast offered, and for the price, that's not a problem. Electronics and lighting in room all worked well. Exhaust fan for the cooking area comes on with the overhead light in that area, and the fan is noisy, but there is other light available so that particular overhead does not need to be used. Apartment sized fridge, stove top, and microwave in room. Also a kitchen sink. A/C unit unusually quiet; just a white noise background. Noted that outside grills are available for use though we were just passing through and didn't have use for them. Bathroom is large enough with good water pressure and hot water. Would be nice if they could put an extra countertop in the bathroom to spread out the toiletries. Very limited space for even smaller items in the bathroom. Overall, I've stayed at places where that same room would go for almost double that nightly rate. Any deficiencies are more than offset by the price.

You get what you pay for.

Loud exhaust fan. Bed creeped and cracked. Pillows were hard. First room I looked at smelled like wet dog . Moved to second floor and that was fine. Room was clean and spacious. All in all it was very good for the money. Cheap!!
