Wife and I stayed here recently for a weekend visit, choosing Red Roof Inn for its pet friendly, no fee or weight limit policies as we were traveling with our 60 lb dog. We booked via a third party site, for a king bed, and saved another $10-$20 over normal list price. Upon arrival, it’s obvious the location has had a recent renovation. A little research shows that this motel changed ownership in the past 2-3 years, receiving a complete renovation and rebranding as a Red Roof Inn. The updates are pretty well done and thorough, not a quick lipstick job on a crap foundation. We stayed at a Motel 6 in San Antonio a few months back that claimed to have been renovated, showed pictures of nicely updated rooms, and it turned out to be one of the worst motels I’ve ever stayed in, as everything “update” was merely plaster and tape hiding major issues and even safety concerns. THIS hotel has been well renovated and it reflects as such. Rooms lack carpet except a very small edge around the bed; a plus for a place that is so pet friendly. Bathroom area and finishes are nicer than some higher end hotels I’ve stayed in. Shower water pressure was great. TV has a LOT of channels. Lighting is a little odd throughout but there are several lights to utilize. Breakfast offerings are quite pleasant, a slight step above the typical, including the ability to make your own waffle. All the local highlights are within a short drive. Immediate area has several restaurants and a Walmart down the street. Very positive experience. We’ll definitely look to stay here again in future visits to the area.

Nice Hotel but Lacking a Little

First of all, I thought the room was clean, beds were nice, and, in general, my stay was excellent for the money. It looks like the entire facility was updated and it shows it. It was really far better than expected that another rater has stated. However, they were lacking in a few areas. It would help if they left a list of TV channels in the room. You have to find them out for yourself. Also some info on the local area and restaurants would also help. In addition, I somehow got the impression that the lady at the front desk was not really friendly or public relations oriented. The initial greeting was lacking. She seemed reluctant to welcome you. Perhaps it was her nationality which appeared to be middle eastern. Maybe that was the problem. Another person of the apparent same nationality was sweeping up around the outside and he just gave me an odd look when I was headed to my new room. Maybe this was a "mom and pop" owned facility. The "continental" breakfast was definitely lacking as there was only dry cereals, buns, toast, and corn flakes. For me, it was enough, but maybe for others it would be lacking. I have seen better in other hotels. I might come back but I will have to think about it a little. I did reserve a better room but I believe I got the regular one for the deluxe price. So, be careful of the room types. For the price, it is not too bad and I recommend it if you just want a bed for the night or two with nothing fancy or you do not care about the greetings or attitudes of the hotel people.

A Good Stop

This is the high side of Red Roof. We always travel with Red Roof because of our dogs, and this inn was clean and well-maintained. Management was polite and helpful. A little further from the Interstate than we expected, but not a major problem.

Far Better Than Expected

Excellent Room. Clean, newly remodeled. Large comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Lots of channels on the TV and free WIFI access. Easy access to plenty of places to eat. Perfect place for a tired traveler on a cold winter's night.
