Being on the road and only needing a clean comfortable place to sleep for the night we look for inexpensive hotels to stay in. So alot of fancy amenities is not necessary, but at the same time we do want the the room to be safe. Check out the following pictures of our stay last night. 1st 2 pic black on the sheet. 3rd bathtub drain, 4th floor lamp by the table, no light bulb and fixture coming apart, 5 & 6 the tub, 7 & 8 chunk out of the wall and part of the flooring missing, & 9 something on the floor in front of the night stand. Not sure what it was. There was dirt in sink. It was late in evening when we arrived. Being very tired didn't notice many of these things until this am.

Filthy and Sleepless in Shelbyville
March 21, 2018

Well, starting from the beginning with the phone call to reserve our room, Suzanne was not very pleasant or courteous to a weary traveler at 12:30 AM. After that was complete, we checked in and discovered that the room would not open. After walking back to the lobby, Suzanne informed me that the door had a "trick" to opening it. She pulled on the handle and then put the card in and then pushed to enter. How is a sleepy, weary traveler supposed to know that in the middle of the night?! From there, it got worse! The room smelled AWFUL, like musty mold/dirt mixed with cigarette smoke! Disgusting! Then I went into the bathroom and noticed how filthy it was and the door to the bathroom looked like it came from a building supply salvage yard!!! The room was dilapidated, over all too. Suzanne knew that there were 3 of us staying in the double bed room, yet there were only enough towel sets for 2 people. There was a receptacle in the wall that was crooked, and did not have a plate over it, which is a huge shock hazard, and the door to the outside did not seal at the bottom. You could look out and see the light from the pole lights outside shining through. Also on the outside door the lock stop lock on the door did not work- half of it was missing, so we only had the dead bolt for security. Then there was the noisy commotion of other guests at 4 something in the morning with their dog(s) outside our door yelling at the animal(s) and generally making a ruckus that lasted almost an hour! Overall, it was a horrible night and experience with little sleep.

Visiting family
March 21, 2018

Came to town visiting family. House was to crowed for everybody so I searched for a reasonable priced hotel. The Red Roof Inn was very clean and great price. I will stay again when visiting my family.

No breakfast as advertised
March 19, 2018

I've been in 3 Red Roof Inns in the past month, & only one had a breakfast. This one does not. Be aware that this chain probably does not have any breakfast whatsoever even if they say they do. You'd better call first before booking. This chain does not deserve a 2 star rating, at best a one and a half.
