Great place to spend a night or two

Very basic hotel but clean and spacious. Location is good too. Swimming pool looks nice and warm. Their breakfast is great. Sleep quality wag good and mattresses are great and comfortable to sleep on. Would be back if in the area.

Worst RRI I've ever been in...

Starting from the beginning, I called the feint desk to make a reservation. The guy tried to cheat me out of a corporate discount of 25%. When I called him out on it, he got very rude. I asked for his name and he refused to give it. This forced me to call the corporate lone to make the reservation. Aside from making excuses for the front desk clerk, she did everything fine. When I get to the hotel, and AFTER I paid for the room, they saw fit to let me know that they're in the middle of changing TV service providers, so until further notice, theres no TV available. Awesome. When I FINALLY get into the room, I have no complaints. Heat worked great, rooms were clean, bed was comfortable. Don't bother attempting to dial the front desk for anything, because about 70% of the time, it'll just keep ringing. Just the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. Kinda crazy, considering the competition they have in the area. Lake Orion is a really nice town and Red Roof Inn is not the only choice here. It's disappointing.

If you see a review other than 0 to 1 stars it was written by there staff!

Ive had more pleasant visits to the dentist than this Red Roof. The problem isnt that the building is older, location or the amienities, the problems are all due to the staff and the total disrespectful condiscending demeaner they not only displayed but were proud of. the building is filthy to start with, and obviously because of that had an odor that was quite pungent. One of the hallways they burned incense in to try and rid themselves of the problem. obviously this did not work and only compunded the already unpleasant smell that seemed to lurk around every corner. The pool area could have been very nice but the green water and floating debris took away any desire that one would have of taking a dip. Instead I was reminded of the pond in my grandfathers backyard that I frequently fished in as I grew up, it only lacked ducks some cat-tails growing in it and few fish. Although I can not say with one hundred percent certainty that fish were not hidden by the dark murky green water that filled the cement pond. Make sure that bring a good book and your computer or tablet if your planning on having a quiet evening in, because there isnt cable or satellite service atleast for the past couple of weeks. The interuption in service if I had to make an educated guess was simply stopped due to lack of payment. Speaking of payment 3 times during our stay I paid with cash and they charged my credit card as well on a specific Wednesday they charged my card twice and I had paid in cash already. Apparently they did not apply any of that money towards the cable bill. On one occasion they were refusing to apply my redi-rewards points to my account, eventually had to get redi-rewards on the phone with the front desk where he proceeded to argue with them about applying points to my account he ended up having to speak to the manager who told him that if he didnt apply them that she would. he then told me to stop booking online, and that he would not accept any more discounted rates. finally they turned off taking any discounted rates all together (they can actually turn it off) so I called corporate offices and actually filed a formal complaint, about 45 minutes to an hour after doing so the phone in my room rang (I had already paid for the day) and was told that I had to check out because of complaints. Obviously this upset my wife and I became angry i went to the front desk and he again told me that i was to check out and that I would not be getting my money back. knowing full well what this was about I asked who complained and about what. i was told that we were being extremly loud and he would not say who complained. considering that our room was located at the end of the hall without another room on either side and that below our room was maintenence and hotel laundry, it would be next to impossible to get a noise complaint. I ended up telling the manager that he was a liar and a crook, i also told him that we were not checking out and that my wife and I would be more than happy to leave his delapidated human bacteria frape of a motel hotel. So if you have no other choice, and I mean you dont have a tent or the homeless shelter is full consider breaking a law and bail yourself out in the morning before you stay here. if you do decide to tempt fate and throw caution to the wind at least be up to date on all your shots.

I recently stayed at the Red Roof Inn while I was waiting to close on my new house. I was stuck there for four days. It was close to work and I could still get my son to school. I booked here thinking in the past I had great experiences at Red Roof back home in Florida. This was not the case. I do not understand how this hotel is open and why the health department has not shut it down. We checked into a basic room with two queen beds. The room reeked of smoke as soon as you opened the door. The bedspread had stains on it and the blanket underneath had cigarette burns all over it. I had to set them out in the hall way. Towels were worn out and ripped but appeared to be clean. The bathroom ceiling where the lights are had a huge hole around it, very odd. The bathroom was not clean. You could see on the mirror where the previous guest had written F off through the steam after showering. The floor is part wood and part carpet, the wood panels were not locked in or glued down they just move around freely. If that's not bad enough the pool area... No chlorine in the pool. Filthy. There are paint chips floating around as well as debris and probably diseases. The staff can not speak English. There are only two people who clean the rooms (the entire hotel) an older man and woman. Friendly but can not speak English. At breakfast you can have a piece of bread, waffle, coffee and orange juice. The juice machine must be broken because apple juice comes out water. They put out a few hostess donuts as well. The area where food is put is not clean either, no one has wiped under the glass in years! At night people run up and down the stairs at all hours, it is so loud you can not possibly sleep. The a/c units in the room are also loud. The stairwell was full of trash, beer cans and cigarettes the whole 4 days we were there. Do not be fooled by these nice pictures this place is a first class dump! Before living in Michigan I worked for Marriott as the housekeeping director so when I left here I went right to Fairfield inn and Suites for the rest of my hotel needs. The management at this hotel is so poor! It will probably remain this way into the future. It must be embarrassing to make Red Roofs reputation look this bad! They need to fire the entire staff and replace them with people who actually have a work ethic and care about the job they do. They also need to remodel, the place is falling apart and the smell of smoke is absorbed into the entire hotel you can not escape it. So much for a non smoking hotel. Do your self a favor and drive a little farther for a better stay some where else.

Just a great value for the money they are super friendly here and aim to pleas

It is kind of a basic hotel, but for the rooms are really nice and was cleaner and more nicely made than a much more expensive hotel I had been in recently. They are real friendly and are customer focused. The stay was really pleasant and it is a short drive to many key locations including university, businesses, entertainment and shopping
