Bring your earplugs!!!
August 18, 2019

I will say that the room was very clean and comfortable - no issues there. If you are looking for peace and quiet, though, this is not the location, as it is immediately right off the thruway. Walls are paper thin between rooms. We heard the adjoining room's TV (which was never turned off, and wasn't cranked up that loud) for the entire time we were in the room. If the noise of the interstate and the screech of metal-on-metal as trains rumble by doesn't faze you, then book with confidence. If you are sensitive to noise, then suggest you stay elsewhere. (We asked for a "quiet" room, and could see the interstate and the train tracks from our room, as well as hear the noise.) Fortunately, I did have earplugs packed just in case, and this was the only instance where they were needed on a 10-day trip staying at various hotels.

This was one of the nicest Red Roof motels we have stayed in. It has a very welcoming atmosphere as you enter the lobby. Comfy chairs, magazines, fireplace and fresh fruit. Desk staff was very friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful ( wish I had gotten their names). Room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast area was immaculate. Rachel does a fabulous job of keeping it clean and stocked. Everything was labeled and easy to find. We would recommend staying here and will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

The Best Red Roof Inn is in Herkimer, NY
August 13, 2019

The Herkimer, NY Red Roof Inn is the nicest Red Roof I have ever stayed at! I'm guessing this location was originally built by a different chain and then taken over by Red Roof, because it isn't the usual twin rectangular building layout with minimal lobby, the room was quite large compared to the standard RR, and there is an outdoor pool. There is a lot of pride of ownership at this location compared to other RR properties as well. There were nice flowers outside the lobby, lights on the tree in the center of the parking lot, flowers around the pool, a picnic table around back. I appreciate that the entire hotel is non-smoking and they have benches and receptacles for cigarette butts at every corner, thereby encouraging smokers to comply and enjoy their smokes outside. The lobby had comfortable chairs and homey touches, and a simple continental breakfast is offered. Everything was clean - lobby, grounds, and room. The room had nice ceiling canned lights in addition to the usual lamps, an armchair, nice bedding, and comfortable beds and pillows. The flooring was tile in the entryway and bathroom, laminate in the main part of the room, and carpet under the beds. The mini fridge not only worked but also had a freezer section that truly froze my freezer bags again. I had the pleasure of being checked in by Theresa and Lynn, who were very friendly, welcoming, and efficient. They offered a wake up call, which I don't think has ever been offered to me at a RR before. They not only tolerated my dogs, but encouraged me to bring them into the lobby so they could meet them and give them cookies - much to my dogs' delight! The next morning at check out everyone was very friendly with the dogs again - after 780 boring miles in the car the dogs were thrilled to interact with all these new people. The property has the highway on one side (up a large hill so the traffic isn't visible) and train tracks across the street on the other side, but noise was minimal. I know there were other guests because I saw them, but didn't hear anything while in the room. The large pine trees in the back helped to diffuse the highway noise. I only stayed one night because I was part way through a larger road trip, but I will definitely plan out my next road trip so I can stay here again. It was very comfortable and allowed me to truly relax and get a good night's sleep. It is by far the nicest Red Roof I have ever stayed in.

Awesome Sauce under the Red Roof
August 11, 2019

I wanted to take a moment to review my recent stay at the Herkimer NY Red Roof Inn. The place is clean and the staff do an amazing job keeping it that way. Very special kudos to Shawna, the staff member assigned to my room (#200 August 6 - 8) if i spelled your name wrong, I apologize but you did an outstanding job and I hope management recognizes your extraordinary attention to your job. Hint - She deserves something for her awesomeness, like extra hour for lunch maybe ? Next, continental breakfasts at hotels can be hit or miss but this one was really nice. Bagels, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal (in those super cool dispensers that I need in my house), and of course coffee. Pretty good coffee too. I could throw you all under the bus for the sin of bad coffee but you did me right here so you have my love and respect. The staff keep the dining area clean and neat while remaining invisible so people can relax but I see the job you all do and appreciate it. Also, I appreciated how quiet and relaxed the place was. Lastly, I would like to mention Rachel. She was very helpful in recommending places to eat and local stuff an outsider would not know. Warm, friendly, helpful and of course professional. Thank you Rachel. Again I hope management recognizes your dedication to the comfort and happiness of those under your care. In closing I think it is apparent I had a good stay at the Herkimer Red Roof Inn. Thank you all for that. I do have one complaint that I am sure you have heard before. You may roll yr eyes but my complaint is more a question and that is if the place is called the Red Roof Inn, why is the roof not red ? I was slightly disappointed but only slightly so I think I can get over it.
