Red Roof Inn is Off Our Stay List When We Travel After This Experience!

The front desk person was nice and got us checked in for our stay. We've needed to use the freezer units in the fridge for ice packs we're using on our travels. There was so much ice packed in there from needing to be defrosted that I had fun trying to get the ice packs in there. Used the toilet before we left for dinner and they have the brackets so far apart, when you pull on the toilet paper the spool comes off and the roll goes everywhere. When we got back to the room for the night, my husband tried to get our DVD player hooked up so we could watch a movie before going to bed. The remote in the room was broken, so he could never get the TV to convert over to the DVD player. He called the front desk and a maintenance guy came to the room. Jim told him what was going on so he brought a new remote and a master remote back and finally got the TV converted over. Every time we've done this in any other hotel, it has stayed on the setting for the DVD player with no problem, not here. The next night when we settled in to watch a movie, it was back on TV mode and the guy who had helped us the night before wasn't there. So we couldn't get anyone to help us get the TV set up for the DVD player again. My husband was very disappointed about it. We've had the worst luck this trip with the places we stayed in not having a workout room. That has been the most disappointing thing for me on this trip. I tried to work on the laptop and get a couple of reviews for Trip Adviser done, but the computer quit working. The outlet we tried to use was very sporadic. When I tried again that night, the computer quit working altogether. Overall some of the outlets didn't seem to work. And others were controlled by the light switch at the door. We like a cool room, but the air conditioner could only be set to 66 degrees, so we were very uncomfortable during our entire stay. We had some leftover pizza from our dinner the previous night and decided to heat it up for a snack. When I opened the microwave it was disgusting! Something had been splattered all over the inside of it. I had to go tell the maid the next morning specifically to clean the microwave, or it wouldn't have been done at all. She didn't speak English, but I managed to make her understand what needed to be done. I also left the door open before we left so she would be sure to see it. While I was putting our vitamins together for the next day, a big hairy bug came scuttling across the counter and startled the heck out of me. I should have gotten a picture of it, but my husband squashed it before I could think to do that. The cleaning staff never gave us more than the one bar of soap that was in the room when we arrived. So when my husband and I both wanted to take a shower before we left the next morning, only I was able to take a shower as there wasn't enough soap left for him. So he ended up waiting until we got to the next hotel on our trip. When I got the towel for my shower I had the same problem as the toilet paper spool. When I pulled on the towel to take it off the rack, the whole towel bar fell down because they had the brackets holding it too far apart yet again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They've cut so many corners, your stay at this hotel will bring you nothing but misery.

Don't understand the Ratings!

I didn't book this hotel until I drove 200 miles at 40 mph across I-70. Stopped at Ruby Tuesday's across the interstate and booked it because I had "Hershey", my pet Cocker Spaniel. I reserved on mobile app and showed up half and hour later. Front desk was superb, gave me an upgrade to keep me on floor level and close to grass for the dog. (She didn't need too) . The room was clean, bathroom was tiled and tidy. I do not understand the ratings! The HVAC was new and worked perfectly. Breakfast was light, but what he heck, $70 total, come on what do you expect. Some A$@hole swapped the batteries out of the remote, not fault of the hotel, but was no issue. Up and running in no time and no questions of me. The hotel is managed by a mid-eastern family and if that's your problem, then handle it the way you need to, don't give bad reviews! I had a great experience and will mark it as a great stop for me. BTW, my room was 110. If it's available, I guarantee it's nice!

Cheap Room For The Night

I was up all night drove all day and needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours. Found Red Roof Inn at a great price and decent star rating. Rooms are a little worn out but for a few hours of sleep, it’s worth it.

Probably my last time... WEAR SOCKS!!

Our queen bed room was very small. Not a lot of room to move around. Desk/work area was very small. The fridge and microwave was plugged in to an outlet that was connected to the light switch. If the overhead light was off, the fridge turned off. Seeing as I didn’t want to sleep with the light off, we did switch to another outlet. I was happy the cords reached. Toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall and evidently housekeeping/maintenance didn’t think it was necessary to be fixed after the group before us checked out. If you don’t wear socks your feet will turn black after a few steps on the floor. My wife didn’t exactly appreciate that. The air conditioner was in now way sufficient. The temp can’t be set below 66 and the fan speed although set on high was a joke. The compressor didn’t run too long and kicked off constantly and I was not in the slightest convinced the room temperature made it down to 66. This made the room very humid and your clothes, towels, surfaces felt wet and sticky. Overall it might be good for an overnight but I don’t think I will be back for a week-long stay like this time.

Bed Bugs

My wife, daughter and I all had bed bite marks. Dirty room, broken chair in our room. Outside by the stairs smelled bad. People standing around outside of the hotel that were not staying there, saw police driving around the hotel at night and in the morning when we left. Pictures on web site is not what the hotel looks like,
