The common areas are kind of dingy and it’s not at all fancy, which really wouldn’t have bothered me for the price. I have no problem with basic but it was just not clean. There was hair on the vanity when we checked in so I grabbed some disinfecting wipes I happened to have in the car and started wiping down the bathroom. Once I got down on the floor I noticed that all the corners and under the vanity were full of hair (mostly body hair) and the wipes were coming up all gray/black from the filth on the floor. Once I wiped it down we could feel the difference between where I cleaned and the rest of the room. I think they just sweep the floors and don’t regularly wash them. The solid surface floors are a great idea but not if you don’t clean them. I also noticed stains all over the comforters. The only thing this hotel had going for it was the no smoking room really smelled like no one had ever smoked there, but every time we can into the building we had to walk our kids through a group of smokers hanging out outside the door. Also the hallways always smelled like old take-out.

We stopped here overnight on a drive out East. The rooms were spotless and the beds were comfortable. The rooms looked like they had been refurbished fairly recently. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Will stay again.

Red Roof Inn Redeems Itself

July 23, 2018

I was headed to a conference outside of Ligonier, PA last week and knew that there was no way that I could make it all the way ... so I made reservations at this Red Roof Inn as I have in the past. Last February, I had a somewhat bad experience at this property. I had checked in late and most of the rooms were filled up due to flooding in the area and a lot of emergency workers had checked in at the last minute. Back in February, the first room that I was put in had not been cleaned by housekeeping (no bedsheets, full trash cans, dirty towels, etc.). I immediately asked to be moved to another room and discovered that the newest room - while clean - had a heating unit that emitted a ear-piercing noise ... whereby I complained (again) and I was put in another room (where I spent the rest of the night attempting to calm down). However, the manager the next morning made everything right and couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic! I was hesitant about staying at this property again after the last occasion, but had stayed there in the past, without complaints, and hoped that the prior incident was just "bad luck" on my part. This time out I thoroughly enjoyed my stay ... got there early (around 6 p.m.) and was greeted by a friendly lady at the front desk. Was given a room on the "back side" of the property which - while the room was lovely - there was a lot of freeway noise (the property backs up to I-70 East). The A/C luckily drowned out the noise and I slept comfortably. I had a room that was 100% smoke free (definitely a PLUS!). However, I don't believe the PROPERTY itself is "smoke free." I was awoken early on Friday morning by a group of people who decided to have a LOUD conversation outside my door and - after I got up to peek out the curtains - it was obvious that they were taking a "smoke" break before hitting the road (the cigarette butts later that morning confirmed it!). It would be VERY nice if the entire property was "smoke free" but there will always be those who "bend the rules." Alas, no free breakfasts at Red Roofs, but there is a Denny's that is directly off the parking lot (and can be accessed on foot), as well as a McDonald's, Bob Evans' and other eating establishments within a 1/2 mile of the property. Also be sure that you ask to have the charge for the "in-room safe" removed from your bill upon check-out. While the cost is minimal, it's something that's not entirely obvious. Will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.

Way Nicer than the Ramada up the Hill

Two years ago, we came through here and stayed at the Ramada. I mostly remembered their pet fee being pretty expensive, so we decided to try the Red Roof Inn this time. It was the right choice! Even with the pet fee, the price was about the same as most Super 8s with a pet fee. And the room was much, much nicer. Very modern and up to date. Staff was also excellent. Great place to stay.

The people were very friendly and helpful, especially Teresa at the Front Desk. Friendly and efficient Housekeeping Staff. Close to I-70 and Gas, Meals, Other. Well laid-out, lots of parking, large installation.
