Dirty floors. A non-smoking room that reeks of cigarettes. An iron that looks like someone used it as a blunt object and a less than friendly (though not outright rude) front desk attendant makes for a terrible rating. Next time, I’ll just sleep in my car.

Bad Experience

When you travel with a dog, occasionally you find yourself in a "not so nice" room. This hotel took "not so nice" to a whole new low! Being dirty, unmaintained, and unfriendly is the least of its problems. There is an unsettling element of people around and cars zooming in and out of the parking lot at all hours of the day and night. These people, who seem to reside there, are hanging over the 2nd floor balcony and in the nasty maintenance area smoking and "yaahooing" with each other. The presence of so many broken down and dilapidated vehicles in the parking lot indicated that these people were not traveling through the area; but rather living here and/or using it as a party place. I was very careful to keep the car locked and my valuables on my person at all times. We have stayed at nice Red Roof Inns in the past, but now every time time we drive past one, we shudder! I keep expecting to see this hotel on an episode of "Cops" or "Live PD".

The staff is wonderful here. They will assist in all of your needs. The property is kept clean. The beds are comfortable. The hotel has great coffee through out the day. I recommend this place for its value.

Horrible Room - Friendly Front Office Lady

We needed a quick, pet friendly, hotel for a one night stay for a funeral. Red Roof Inn was very close to the church where the service was so we picked on the run. Basically, we needed a place to change after the 5 hour drive, sleep, and then shower before driving 5 hours back home. We came early, before check in, to see if we could check in early to change and head straight to the service as we had about 30 minutes and didn't want to change in the church bathroom or a gas station. Very nice front office lady allowed for an early check in. We got a non-smoking room as neither of us smoke, went to the room and we both decided that the room had probably been smoked in. And, found a burned hole in the bed spread! I notified the front desk so I would not be charged with damage but they didn't have another room available. The service was in about 20 minutes so we didn't have to think about options such as finding another hotel at the time. We quickly changed clothes and headed out to the service. Later that evening we returned from the service and celebration of life dinner with the family. It was late and we were wiped out. After changing and looking around we began to notice things as we relaxed. The floors were damaged around tub, toilet, cracks from leaks in the ceiling, burn hole in bed spread, lots of sticky places on floor around desk and fridge. I went to our car and brought in clean wipes and air freshener that we use for cleaning up after wet dogs. We wiped down everything, counters, remote, desk, light switches, floors where sticky and we had to walk. The room was that nasty - but we were too tired, mentally as well, to attempt a drive back home without some sleep. The next visitor will probably have the cleanest room in the hotel due to our efforts! Sleeping was rough because we were on a blanket and the interstate noise was pretty loud. As were several people talking in the parking lot. We probably should have checked out, or ranted until we got a new room, or something. But, we were just too tired - if you've driven a long distance to attend a funeral then you probably know our mental state - tired. We kept our socks on when walking and slept on a travel blanket we happened to have in the car instead of in the sheets. The few good things that need to be pointed out. The check in lady was very nice, the location was perfect for us at the time. The TV looked to be brand new and the room we stayed in had a mini fridge and a safe.The grounds were well lit as well. Plenty of places to walk our dog, pet waste bags etc in walking areas. Could be a decent little hotel if rooms were, at least ours, was properly cleaned and maintained.
