Don’t stay here!

First, I’d like to say that I hardly ever leave reviews for hotels and I stay in a lot of them. I’ve only left a few very good ones in the hundreds of hotels all over the world but this particular hotel deserves a review because the public needs to know. Pros: very cheap ($48 with hotels.com), close to freeway and lots of shopping and restaurants and bed / pillow was comfortable, Cons: tv curio drawer broke- wouldn’t close, AC never got cold, sink drained slowly, door was hard to open, tv sound governor turned so low could barely hear it over loud AC, very shady characters inside and out (probably because it’s the cheapest hotel in the area). I don’t spook easily but I felt very uncomfortable all three nights. It looked like a couple drug deals going down in the parking lot, a group drinking on their tailgate, and people just sitting around in the dark. This was all three nights. -I heard a lot of noise in the halls and next door to me. It so loud that I put my pillow over my head and it didn’t help. The partying went on past 4am the first night. -on the third night there was a strong marijuana smell in room 219, which is next door to mine -I have a nonsmoking room but my comforter has about a dozen huge cigarette burns on it, sheets have what appears to be tiny blood spots on the left side(I have time stamped pictures that management will get to see), very gross -on the last night my room didn’t get cleaned. I get a knock on the door and a grade school girl (about 8yrs old) at 6:30pm is helping her mom clean rooms. The mother asked if I needed anything. The little girl hands me soap and shampoo. I don’t mind kids helping out their parents and learning skills and I hope she doesn’t get in trouble but that girl was too young and she should be doing homework. -the shower has a loose spot in the floor, feels like I will fall through, there’s also mold/ rust on the shower light fixture and in the grout. And also has a bad caulk job -ceiling about bed has been repaired, I’d assume for a water leak. Very bad tape and float job, looks like it’s still wet -I arrived early and tried to get my room early and the desk attendant was on his phone watching something with headphone in his ear. He was bothered by me asking if I can check in early and was very rude. He said he had plenty of rooms available but I had to wait a few more hours because that’s just how it works. Then he went out side and chained smoked a few cigarettes with some homeless looking guy for over 15 mins while I sat there in disbelief, then I just left to cool off when I realized he wasn’t going to give in and let me put my suitcase in my room that was ready. Usually a hotel lets you check in if the room is clean and available, it’s called good customer service because you want them to return. -and last but not least someone opened my door in the middle of the night. Thank goodness I had my security latch on. When I woke up I was surprised it was open. Especially as much time as I invested closing and locking my door. The evening before the attendant gave me a new key card because I locked mine in the room. I was shocked that he didn’t ask for my name or ID. He asked for my room number and in 3 seconds I was handed the card! All and all I was very disappointed. I know it’s cliche but you get what you pay for.

It is unfortunate

This is actually a nice inexpensive little hotel. You can see where some updates have been done and the people are so sweet including the front desk, housekeepers, and maintenance guy. There are truly "salt of the earth" kind. BUT the hotel needs to rip out the carpet in the hallway. Due to the smoking rooms and pet accommodations and the humidity the smell of awful! I bought Febreeze and sprayed the hall and it had no effect. The smell is very very strong from the laundry room right near the front desk and hallway. I hate to even say anything bad about this place but the smell is just too much.

Great place at a great price

I truly enjoy staying at the Red Roof Inn. Henri at the front desk provides outstanding customer service and accommodates me for early check ins. He is always upbeat and positive. The hotel is located in a nice location with easy access to I35. The price of the rooms is reasonable.

The front desk clerks are superb, Henri and Abraham. Unfortunately that is the only nice thing about this hotel. It could be a nice hotel if it were not for the horrible smoke throughout the entire hotel. The owner mentioned in prior years reviews that it would be converted to a 100 percent smoke free hotel. Well unfortunately he has not made the change. They do not want to lose the smokers business, sad. The "non smoking" rooms smell of smoke, as they cannot keep the smokers from smoking in them. Owner has NO interest in making this a smoke free hotel obviously. SMOKERS congregate by front door. Used to be a nice hotel, now it is a dump. Blankets either have cigarette burns or stains. Please avoid. I wish they would overhaul the place, but don't think that is going to happen.

Highly recommend

We had the best experience staying here, all of the staff was very nice and helpful. We stayed here until we could close on our new house and so a couple of days turned into more, etc but the staff always made us feel welcome.
