Basic accommodation at this Red Roof Inn. The decor was familiar but the room not up to the usual caliber of previous Red Roof Inns. Perhaps it was not a “plus” room? No extras at all. No fridge, microwave, etc. Room was clean, but basic.

Another great stay!

My DH and I go to Maine every year and we always stay here on our way up. I have to admit, a motel in the middle of an exit ramp made me pretty nervous about noise. Not to worry! The last 2 years we’ve stayed on the side away from the Thruway, this year it was the Thruway side, and there was absolutely no difference. You couldn’t hear the traffic at all (although if we hadn’t had the fan in the room running, you probably could have a little). Dogs stay free, so there are lots of them, but the floors are easy to clean laminate and we’ve always found the rooms to be very clean with no odors. There’s even a fridge so we can keep our food cold on our trip. Also, great water pressure in the shower, although the bathroom is a little small and the towels are a little thin. There’s a wonderful Italian place 2 doors down and a Denny’s across the street. We’ve never had a bad experience and I would not hesitate to stay here again – you even get a free bottle of water at check-in!

Well, it was a night to remember...

Stayed here with boyfriend and his son while visiting Syracuse. I frequently stay at Red Roof's because I find their rooms to be nice and the price reasonable. So, reviews are always subject to the experience of the person leaving it and their expectations. I try to leave reviews that are factual and not emotionally based. That being said.... This particular Red Roof had only rooms with full size beds or king size. Travelling with a 13 year old requires separate beds so the king size was not an option. I felt the rooms were much smaller than what I have experienced before and decided to change rooms. The girl at the counter was happy to make the change. However, she was alone and there were quite a few people at the counter, the phone was ringing and worst of all the computer chose that moment to go down. As well as the machine that issues the room keys. She was frustrated and had her own personal issues going on that didn't help her. If you are reading this and experience a situation like this, please remember everyone is dealing with issues of their own we don't know about. Sometimes you have to go to work even when you're sick. Sometimes you just can't afford to miss a day of work. Life can get overwhelming and stressful and you do the best you can. In other words, sometimes as a customer (actually as a person) you need to have compassion and patience and notice when someone may be having a bad day. She had switched us to a room on the first floor before realizing we wanted to be on the second floor. The room key machines were acting up at this point and she was trying everything she could to get it working. When it did come up, she gave us keys to an upstairs room. All was well. One thing you can't control when you go to a public hotel is the others who decide to rent a room near you. At one point someone ran down the hall knocking on everyone's doors. The kid next to us was drinking quite a bit and we found him passed out on the balcony outside our door (he was alive and well - just a bit out of it). There was some yelling and other noise which luckily was drowned out by the air conditioner. Around 3:30 in the morning I'm awoken by our door opening and being half awake and with all the commotion that had gone on earlier, I assume someone tried to kick the door in. Thankful the little lock on the top had kept it opening all the way. A call to the guy at the front desk left me more confused since he didn't seem concerned someone had tried to break my door down. He kept telling me this woman was in the lobby, and I could hear her say - is that the woman from the room? When I finally regained my senses I realized what had happened. When the girl switched our rooms and gave us new keys she never changed our room in the computer. When another person came in at 3:30 in the morning and needed a room, the new guy saw our room was available and gave it to her. According to the computer, it wasn't occupied. He gave her a key and she had tried to come in to what she thought was her room. It was just one of those stays where sometimes sh*t happens. The manager was very reasonable, listened to me ramble on about what happened and gave us a satisfactory solution. The room itself was okay. The microwave had to be unplugged because it was running and the buttons wouldn't make it stop. The air conditioner was a bit on the loud side, but kept the outside sounds mellow and the room cool all night. The lock at the top of the front door had obviously come off before because you could see where it had damaged the frame and the lock was pretty cocky. But, hey, it worked at 3:30 am when it needed to. But, the room was clean and we had everything else we needed for one night. I will continue to stay at Red Roof because this was situational. It's never happened at any of my other dozen stays where I've been extremely happy with my room and the service. I just may not stay at this one again.

Over priced

I am use to staying at sub par hotels and motels however this one was over priced for what you get. They have updated the decor since my last stay here, however that does not merit over $100 a night. Somewhat clean. I did find a cheeiro and a piece of dog food on the floor so not sure how much attention to detail the give each room . The windows were very dirty and some of the guest were up partying late at night. Not worth the money but we needed a stop over on our trip.

Nice experience

Red Roof was decent place to stay for the amount of $ required. Would recommend it to someone looking for a quick place to crash. The room was clean and the bed was nicely made. Also the staff were very accommodating.
