Room was filthy it appeared the floor had been mopped when we checked in but my wife and I walked around barefooted and our feet were filthy. Also the window was nasty and there were urine stains on floor and door casing. I am going to attach picture of window but picture of urine stains did not show up. Booked reservation and told them I had a dog, they put us on the 4th floor, most motels put dog owners on 1st floor. Asked for a 1st floor room and was told they were full. They also scan your driver's license when the city says they only need to look at it. Lights were out in room. They accused my wife of messing up a key when it did not work the first time we tried it. I had it in my pocket with the other key and the other key worked they tried to say her fitbit messed it up when she never had it until she went to get it replaced. Room smelled. Complained and manager said they were trying to get around to fixing windows. Will not let me post picture.

We stayed here because pets are allowed and we needed to bring our dog. This was my first time ever staying at any Red Roof Inn and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and clean. A continental breakfast would be nice, but I liked that tea and coffee were available in the room and lobby. I do not know if the front desk closes at some point, but I was not able to reach anyone around midnight to ask a question. We'll stay again.

Great bargain

This is a wonderful motel on the south end of Myrtle Beach - just two blocks from the airport, and the Market Commons shopping center (old MB Air Force Base). And only a short 1 block walk to the beach. Yet, it is not in the area overrun by tourists. No restaurant on site, but there is a Waffle House in the parking lot. My 2nd visit here in the past year. It is not a luxury hotel by any means, however it is clean, well kept, well managed, and spacious, for a reasonable price. Very nice outdoor pool. All in all, a hidden gem. Pet friendly too.

Hotel Totally Failed Me This Time

I booked a King Suite (non smoking), ground floor. Upon checking in, I was told there were no King Suites on the ground floor available. I was offered a King Suite on the 2nd floor, but being a disable Vet (bad knee), having a dog with me and Confirmed Ground Floor RSVP for Ground Floor Suite, I preferred the ground floor, but I accepted a ground floor room with 2 double beds. Opening the door to the room, I about fell over with the horrible strong cigarette smoke coming from the room. I went back to the front desk and informed the desk clerk I was canceling my reservation. I received an email from the hotel GM, with his standard SORRY CHARLEY response when the hotel has a complaint. He assured me this would never happen again. That was the same wording I heard on a previous visit. GM -- please have your housekeepers fumigate a room of the smell. The room was a non smoking room. Charge the folks that smoke in the room, the cost of getting the room cleaned. This would stop them from smoking in the future. Very disappointed customer.

Pet friendly but not people friendly

When the furnace went out in our ocean-front rented house late Saturday night, and the temps were in the 20’s, we had to find a pet-friendly hotel quickly. The Red Roof was close and had availability. The good part is that it is inexpensive and requested no pet deposit. The room we checked into reeked of smoke. It says it’s a non-smoking hotel? The room next to us had a loud party. Heavy drinking young men who took it into the hallway. We called the desk several times. They said they would take care of it. Didn’t happen. Finally between 1 and 2 AM, we asked to be moved. Went to another floor where the room next to us had a loud TV on all night. Really - all night. The walls here are obviously very thin. We could hear people peeing in their bathroom. After a sleepless night, we decided it was better to be cold that put up with another night here. What should the staff have done to allow an entire floor to get some sleep? Ask the drunks to leave, and if they won’t call the police. Instead, the hotel was happy to let everyone listen to yelling drunks. Shame on them.
