A clean, comfortable room

I stayed in Red Roof Inn for three nights recently. It is an older property (think early 1990s maybe) but in good shape overall. I've stayed in better hotels and worse hotels, but I would rate this one Average++. The staff was responsive to every question I had. They offer a coffee bar in the lobby, but I think during the tourist season they offer a continental breakfast; of course I'm sure the rates are higher during the tourist season. The hotel is very close to the Market Commons area in Myrtle Beach which has many great restaurants and stores. The only two restaurants very near to the hotel are a McDonalds and a Waffle House. The ocean is a short walk away, maybe about three blocks. The room was dated, but comfortable, equipped with a TV, a desk, and a security safe. No refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was small, but adequate. It was a comfortable stay and the off-season rate was fair. I would stay there again if the need arose.

Saved our dog's 1st trip to the Beach!!!

Booked this LAST minute because of a foul-up with our original booked hotel and I am very happy we did!!!! Not only are they people friendly, but they are SUPER pet friendly!!! Customer service was EXCELLENT!!!!!! Very friendly and courteous! The first room we were given had a couple unfinished maintenance issues and when i called the front desk about this, the clerk immediately brought up new keys to another room for us! He even offered to move our luggage for us!!! Room was clean and worth the money. We would definitely stay here again. its also only 1 1/2 blocks walk to the beach from the hotel. Nice size, well lit, clean area to walk our dog. Even if my husband wouldn't have been there, i would have felt safe being there by myself! I loved the fact that it was an enclosed hotel with no outside access to rooms without a keycard!! Check out was a breeze and that clerk was very polite and friendly too!!!! Only negative thing IN MY OPINION is housekeeping could use a refresher in general cleaning. There was some dirt in the corner by the AC unit, but then again this is being said by someone who re-cleans EVERY room she stays in so take it with a grain of salt.

Nice for the price

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very pet friendly - tile floors and plenty of dog walking areas. The pool area is very nice and well kept. Location is great for accessing the area. Overall a great stay.

Red Roof Inn has become our go-to hotel as we always travel with our German Shepard Dog and Red Roof does not charge a fee for pets. We are willing to trade off more upscale accommodations for the ease of bringing our GSD. That said, this hotel was better than our last stay in Alexandria VA and while their are some normal issue's with this hotel, they are really not worth mentioning. For the price we paid, I was more than satisfied. The one issue that did bother us was not having our room cleaned by the maid when we arrived back at our hotel around 5:00 pm or so. After trying to call the front desk and letting the phone ring for 2 minutes, I was forced to walk from the far end of the hotel from the 2nd floor to talk to the attendant at the front desk. After informing her of not having any maid service, she and another employee commented to each other that they really needed to hire more maid staff. The maid did stop by our room and asked what we needed and I told her just to give us some towels and not to worry about anything else. After talking to the maid and the front staff, it was obvious that Red Roof decided that saving money on hotel maid staff was more important than the service customers are entitled to. I so wanted to leave a tip for our maid but considering all she was able to do was hand me a set of towels at the door, there was no way I could compensate her for her work. Overall, this hotel was fine and would stay there again.

When we arrived with our small dog and African Grey Parrot, they were both welcomed. Our room was a deluxe king. The bed was very comfortable, our room was clean with easy access to walk the dog at any hour. I enjoyed the pool. We were most impressive by the staff. They were always friendly and helpful, laughing and joking with us. The front desk was very efficient. The only part we were not impressed with was the continental breakfast. It lacked any source of protein and had excess carbs. My husband enjoyed the 24/7 access to coffee for when he could not sleep. Overall we really liked the place.
