We spent one night here in early August, and we got a pleasant surprise and good value with this hotel! It was fairly cheap, (parking was additional $15), and walking distance to the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Our room was a premium king, and the room was huge! We had a king size bed, plenty of room for suitcases, and a good size bathroom. Mini fridge, safe and coffee maker also included. The bed wasn’t super comfortable, but it was fine for one night. Staff here were friendly and helpful, and all in all it was a lovely stay.

People may think only a 5-star hotel can give you great deals and amazing experiences. WRONG! If you visit this Red Roof, downtown San Antonio, you will find comfort at reasonable prices. I requested a room with city view, & was given a top floor room with great view. Brittney at the front desk was a "PRO" at handling situations most "5-star" hotels don't know how to deal with. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended location. PLUS, their speedy check in/check out is great, AND you can always earn free nights when you become a RediCard member!

This was a very bad experience for my family and me. We booked through Hotwire for a very reasonable price. We arrived about 10 minutes before check in and the lady that was checking us in tried charging me another amount than what I originally paid online. After I told her I had already paid online she called someone else over and they were talking amongst themselves. She then told me that it was taken care of but I needed to pay for parking separate. $15 a day, not bad at all, I paid the amount and proceeded to go to our room. The keycards did not work until after the 5th or 6th try. That evening we had an event to go to, I was getting ready to iron some of our clothes and the iron did not work. I called the front desk to let them know we needed one and the lady, Jasmine,I believe, said she would send maintenance to give us a replacement. 30 minutes went by and nothing. I called back and she said she would call maintenance and call me back with an update. 30 more minutes and again, nothing. That night we got back to our room pretty late and the guests in the next room were blasting music like if they were outdoors. We are traveling with 2 kids and they couldn’t sleep because of the noise. I called the reception to see if they could ask them to keep it down and they said they would send security.. there was people going in and out of that room and it didn’t sound like security actually went because the music didn’t stop. Later, we heard someone trying to get in the door so my husband went to the door and it was a woman saying that was her room and we needed to get out. My husband told her she needed to go speak to the front desk because we had checked in that afternoon. We finally ended up falling asleep but were woken up at around 5 am to the same blasting music next door. The door leading to the parking garage was left open I’m assuming for the party guests next door. So security wise this was not a secure place to be. We left that morning and came back to only one of our beds made. We had left my daughter’s shorts on the bed and apparently the staff isn’t allowed to touch any of the guests belongings. Very bad experience, needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

We'll start with the positives: *$70 bucks a night with a military discount. *the room was clean, the bathroom was mildew free. *pillow cases are embroidered soft or firm. *7 minute walk to The Alamo. Now the negatives: *They allow outside food vendors to slip advertisements under your door. Seems unsafe that the hotel is ok with it. Either way, we were hungry after a day of travel and succumbed. We ordered from a place called 24th street pizza. Some parts of the order were uncooked, there was sauce on every container, no silverware or napkins, and missing parts of the order. *vending machines were "out of order" at time of this writing. *Check in experience was extremely slow. At the desk we were given a room on the first floor. Dad and I were like, "Awesome." Dad's in his late 60s, mom is in her mid 70s, I'm wearing a surgical boot. A couple of girls walked in and spoke to the other check-in clerk. Our check-in clerk and their check-in clerk had a side conversation where I heard them talking about the first floor room. I went to the restroom and came back. As we were walking out, Dad said, "I thought he said we had the first floor room, he gave us the 2nd floor." "It was the chicks, dad." I said. "Huh?" "They gave the room to those chicks that came in after us, Dad. You're not as sexy as you used to be." *Some of the lights in the room were burnt out.

We booked and paid in advance for 4 nights in June. While in route we encountered an obstacle which forced us to arrive on Tuesday rather than Monday. We called Monday and informed Red Roof of the new arrival and was reassured that our reservation would be held. Upon arrival, at or around 9 pm and after a 14 hour drive, we were told by the front desk that she encountered a problem with our reservation. When asked what exactly the issue was, she proceeded to explain that the Night Auditor had done something to cancel our pre-booked, pre-paid reservation. She made a call from her cell to someone. Came back to us 20 minutes later and explained that the Manager was creating a new reservation. When were finally able to check in, we were made aware of no breakfast, mandatory parking and safe usage fees to be charged up front. It is MANDATED that you park in their garage, which by the way, their key cards never work on the first try, or the second, or third. The key cards were such an issue we have to rekey our cards on a daily basis as it they either did NOT work at all or took about 5 tries to open your room door or allow access to the garage. The last 2 days we stayed, their showers had very low pressure or it completely shut off the shower on you. When we called their desk they had no knowledge of issues with the water. When the maintenance man came he blamed the city. He did nothing to the shower. When we finally had decent water pressure, we had to leave the shower running in order to allow our family to shower. Turning the shower off and back on would create the same problem. Had we not paid in advance and not had a strict schedule to adhere to, we would have stayed some where else. We have received better service from Super 8 motels. Extremely disappointed with our stay.
