Staff very friendly but honestly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at
October 25, 2018

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the hotel is just completely run down. They tried to give us a "room upgrade" and it turned out to be a room with a very old run down smelly kitchen. The other room they gave us had mold in the bathroom and red stains on the garbage can, the floor was peeling away. And just weird smells coming from all areas of this hotel. When we woke up the next morning, we found that someone threw-up all over the sidewalk and the staff was cleaning the throw-up with a power-washer. This whole hotel honestly needs to be condemned. I feel bad for the staff because everyone was really nice, it's just the entire hotel, especially the guest rooms are completely run down. The solution would be management needs to invest in remodeling the entire hotel. They say some of the rooms are "remodeled", but they still look completely like trash. The pictures on the website, look nothing like the actual rooms. Honestly without a doubt, this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed out. Red-Roof Inn should strip their name from this horrible hotel.

Tear It Down!
October 22, 2018

We were on our motorcycle trip and needed to find the closest available place to stay for the night. Called ahead to find out they had one “non smoking” room left. Upon arrival, they explained there was an air show and all hotels were full. This building is so old and outdated and has a very heavy smoke smell in the whole building. If we wouldn’t have been desperate, we would have moved on, but as it was, we were freezing and all the hotels around there were full. Entering through the heavily smoky hallway on the 3rd floor (no elevator), we found out why the room was called non smoking. There were wires hanging from the ceiling where the smoke alarm was. Most things were either broken or falling apart. I guess it’s good they didn’t have an elevator!! The room had a horrible food smell as well as smoke, either from the restaurant out front or the fact that they have a stove in the same room. The windows open, but have no screen or locks on them. Would have loved to let some fresh air in, but with a restaurant right chance. We slept in our clothes not wanting to expose anything to the awful smells. I had to use my pillow case at my nose to use like a mask so I could sleep. Found out that other people stayed 2 nights and had 3 different rooms due to things not working right, including their room key. Their items were stored in laundry room (unaware to them) while they were out, just in case they wouldn’t be able to get back in their room. The last morning they found a cockroach. The best thing that could happen is to tear down the building and start over. Note: We typically look for chains we recognize, but this time we were fooled too, just like the other folks. I find it ridiculous that they could charge over $105 for such a place. I am not usually so critical, but feel the need to warn others. If at all possible, keep moving! If I could have given 0 stars, I would have.

A little rough but okay for a business traveler on a budget like me
September 29, 2018

I stayed here just one night. The place is a bit worn and the bathtub was pretty dirty looking but for the price I paid I am not complaining. On the upside the WiFi was very strong and reasonably fast and the bed was clean and comfortable. After working hard all day it was nice to have a pizza and salad delivered to the room by Domino's. The TV was a big flat screen with a good selection of clear channels. I got a good night sleep and I really like the fact that the windows in the rooms open and I got plenty of fresh air. If I have to work in Culpeper again I will probably try to stay here again.

It'll do

I was traveling recently and found myself needing to stay in Culpeper, as it was the only town along my route that had lodging and fit my time frame. The only place on my route prior to Culpeper was Front Royal, and I would have had to end my day too soon. The next place on my route with hotels/motels was Lynchburg, and I would not have arrived there in time since it was too far. So Culpeper it was. Most of the places in Culpeper were either booked up, or prohibitively expensive, for the day I was there. But the Red Roof was affordable, so I chose it. I understand this used to be a Super 8. The place has its pros and cons. On the positive side, it was within my price range. My room was clean and everything worked. But there were some negatives as well. The lobby smelled strongly of smoke. The facility has three floors and no elevator. I got lucky and was able to get a room on the first floor. The wi-fi didn't work all the best in the world, as I had trouble connecting to several sites. Plenty of channels on the TV, although the guide channel has the channel numbers listed wrong (that's the fault of the cable provider.) All of the hotels are located on the south side of town. There's a Mexican restaurant next door, but the rest of the eating establishments are on the other side of town, so the location is not really convenient to anything except the main route around town (US 29). I would probably stay at one of the other places in Culpeper should I be back and the prices not be too high, but i'd stay here again if I had to.

I was a walk in...I am a culpeper local my house is being fixed up so I went to a hotel with my wife. Well at 6:00pm we arrived at location no one was at the desk so we waited, then a girl named Kim comes from back she was very unprofessional. I told her I needed a room she did not know what I was talking about she looked at me like she was confused. A little girl poked her head around the corner and said mommy come here..well I guess you can take your child to work. Needless to say me and my wife went to Microtel.
